“This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Voting in an election is a civic duty not a spiritual one. No candidate or platform will be the decision maker of your salvation. If you have not accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and repented of sins, loving your neighbors as yourself… and you think voting gets you that… you are sorely wrong.

The spiritual responsibility is about confession of faith through belief in Jesus and repentance and turning away from those things we repented for. It’s about a heart change that seeks the father first in all things.

The civic earthly voting has nothing to do with your salvation or this faith walk. Your relationship with Christ is what matters most. Then there will be Holy Spirit inspired convictions you personally have. Be led by what has inspired you through Christ. Those things will be different to different people with an aim not to be a stumbling block to your neighbor. All done in love for that person’s soul. There are different priorities for believers all based on freedom from the corruptness of human nature. Stop fighting one another and continue to pray for thy neighbor as that neighbor should be praying for you. Romans 8:28 will take place as Romans 14 is played out in the process.

Some people are so intent on creating rules and regulations they feel create a holy nation… they forget about walking as a holy people.

A holy people will live what is holy in our homes and in public… the holiness of the people form a holy house, a holy community, a holy city, a holy state and a holy country.

But a country with rules that try to make people holy has never ever worked without people living holy first. Our representation of what is holy is not written in human laws… but instead it should be written in our hearts.

In 2 chronicles 7:14 it is written “if my people who are called by name, will humble themselves, seek my face and turn from wicked ways… then the people will hear from Heaven and he will heal the land.”

He did not say if my land , where people live within borders, seek my face… it has always been directed at people becoming holy by seeking him. If we do that the rest falls in place.

Let us be reminded!

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!” For He will save you from the trap of the fowler, And from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you and completely protect you with His pinions, And under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and a wall. ¶You will not be afraid of the terror of night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Nor of the destruction (sudden death) that lays waste at noon. A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But danger will not come near you. You will only [be a spectator as you] look on with your eyes And witness the [divine] repayment of the wicked [as you watch safely from the shelter of the Most High]. Because you have made the Lord, [who is] my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, [Ps 91:1, 14] No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. ¶For He will command His angels in regard to you, To protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. They will lift you up in their hands, So that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone. [Luke 4:10, 11; Heb 1:14] You will tread upon the lion and cobra; The young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. [Luke 10:19] ¶“Because he set his love on Me, therefore I will save him; I will set him [securely] on high, because he knows My name [he confidently trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never abandon him, no, never]. “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. “With a long life I will satisfy him And I will let him see My salvation.””

“People may cover their hatred with pleasant words, but they’re deceiving you. They pretend to be kind, but don’t believe them. Their hearts are full of many evils. While their hatred may be concealed by trickery, their wrongdoing will be exposed in public.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭26‬:‭24‬-‭26‬ ‭

If we pretend to be something we’re not, it will become exhausting hiding who we are in the heart. It will come out at some point because we did not have the endurance to keep up with pretending.

Those who have not had interactions with a person the scripture describes will be wowed with the pleasant words. They will be manipulated by the trickery.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to see beyond my emotions and feelings. Open my eyes to what is true even if I have to swallow my words of support when I really did not understand. Lord, I was led by how those pleasant words made me feel. I was blinded because of the trickery. The trickery was flashy and I realize the impact it had on me. Thank you in advance for being patient with me and giving that person time to turn away from what is in the heart. Today… I say thank you Lord for your grace. I understand more now! In Jesus name… Amen!

“To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭19‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I’ve learned that when we chase after God’s heart (Matthew 6:33) we are granted his wisdom. It flows like a might river… it’s a cool drink on a hot day… it is the covering that keeps me warm in the winter and provides shade in the summer. The wisdom of God is more valuable than Gold and silver.

What does his wisdom give me? The ability to see when I am at fault in situations and to be willing to self correct. Lord knows I am grateful for this in my life. His wisdom also gives me the ability to accomplish amazing things that were once seen as impossible for a man like me. The scripture states when we cherish understanding, which God makes clear through his wisdom, we will prosper. His wisdom initially does not feel good to the human side of us which wants to go a different way. The human side (the flesh) is always at odds with God for it does not want to do the things of God (Romans 8:7). But when we do what wisdom is directing us to do… we will always win… and what comes from doing it God’s way is understanding. This is true knowledge through a lived experience.

Prayer for today: Lord, I want more of you. Give me the strength to reject my ways… and show me the error of my ways through your word. Help me to resist the temptation to ignore your way. Lord… I want to prosper, but I can’t do this without you. Forgive me for not seeing this earlier. In Jesus name, AMEN!

“A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separates the best of friends.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

As a follower of Christ, He gives us instructions on how to avoid being labeled as this. I am reminded of the importance of remaining blameless before the Lord. In other words, I will not do anything to attack your name or anything else. A clear conscious allows a person to be at peace… but a guilty conscious keeps a person harping on a matter where they attack other people by their words. A clear conscious does not do this… but the one who doesn’t have one will be tormented by their own deeds. Don’t be the troublemaker this scripture points out. You are supposed to be better than that! The words we sow will be the words we reap. Nothing good comes from those seeds.

The prayer: Lord, forgive me of my sin. Create in me a clean spirit and give me the courage to release any bitterness as I make it right. I want my actions of reconciliation to bring Glory to you for doing the right thing. Restore my inner peace. In Jesus name… Amen!

Are you a woman aged 18 or older seeking to deepen your understanding of the Bible? Are you craving authentic community ...

Are you a woman aged 18 or older seeking to deepen your understanding of the Bible? Are you craving authentic community and fellowship with other Christian women?

In the late 2010s, my mother, Lady Rhonda Denson-McCaskill, led a group of 30+ women each fall to Destin, Florida. There, they encountered God and deepened their relationships with Him in a way that always left me in awe. I longed to be part of it, but school commitments held me back, and I have to admit—I was always a bit jealous! They had the most amazing time together, and I knew deep down that I had to experience it for myself one day.

Six years have passed since the last retreat, and we’re putting out a feeler to see if women would like to see this special retreat make a comeback in the fall of 2025. Not only do I plan to attend, but God willing, I’ll be co-hosting it with my mom, who has been a tremendous encouragement in my walk with Jesus for over a decade!

The past few years have been filled with deep challenges and heartache, from the COVID-19 pandemic to political unrest and economic strain. Yet, through it all, they’ve been marked by the precious blood of Jesus and the mighty hand of God! My mother and I have been burdened by how the state of the world has shaken the faith of so many women. We feel that rest, a God-fearing sisterhood, and, above all, sound Biblical teaching are what we need now more than ever!

This Women's Retreat has always been a sacred space where women could come together to pray, fellowship, and encourage one another. I admired this so much as I watched from afar, living vicariously through the beautiful photos shared online during those years. I saw women from all walks of life coming together, forging friendships that would last long after the retreat ended. I heard inspiring stories of women who had drifted from their faith finding their rhythm with the Lord once more. I saw women of different generations, united in purpose, be filled with the Holy Spirit and fervently intercede for one another. This gathering propelled prayer warriors into the world and ignited evangelists on fire to share the Gospel in their communities, which spanned across the American South.

The Women's retreat is more than just an event; it’s an incredible opportunity to deepen faith, meet new Christian women, and find joy and restoration in the beauty of a beach town that allows us to connect with all of God’s creation—locals, families on vacation, couples celebrating their love, etc.

If you’re excited about seeing the Women’s Retreat return, please fill out the interest form below:

We understand how impactful this retreat has been in the past, and we want to ensure that it meets your spiritual needs now more than ever. Therefore, it is imperative that you complete the interest form thoughtfully, considering what you need in this season of your life with the Lord. Your responses will not only let us know if relaunching this retreat is worth pursuing, but it will also help us craft a retreat that is meaningful and fulfilling for all.

Please note that filling out this form does not commit you to attending. Also, our departure will be from Memphis, Tennessee.

Until all have heard,

I chose to chase after the one who gives wisdom! Matthew 6:33 tells us what to seek. Then things will be added to us and we’ll know how to manage them and what to do with them! So when I chase after the heart of God… He pours out his wisdom which I gladly receive with thanksgiving in my heart! It’s his wisdom in us that will help us navigate any situation we face. This is what it means to have good judgement!

“Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment. If you prize wisdom, she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will honor you. She will place a lovely wreath on your head; she will present you with a beautiful crown.””
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If we ever needed clarity about who is or is not a child of God… this verse makes it clear. If someone is led by the spirit of God you will see some of these characteristics found in Galatians 5:22-26:

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.”
‭‭
So what if someone does not exhibit any of these characteristics? Be careful. No matter who they are or what position they may hold… keep your distance and observe.

On the opposite side of this… if a person is not a child of God… and is led by darkness what does that look like? Galatians 5:19-21 lays it out:

“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
‭‭

““Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven. Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭37‬-‭38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus gives us much clarity about how we should conduct ourselves regarding our interactions with others. In this text there is also confirmation about the principle of sowing and reaping. Some of you call this Karma. The reality is what ever we put out (sow) we will reap it (eat of the fruit of the seeds we sowed). It comes back on us 100 percent at some point. This is an eternal truth. So when Jesus says don’t judge/condemn someone and we do it… he says we shall receive judgement in the same way (sowing and reaping). The word of God is what is called righteous judgement. If we read it and we see ourselves in an ominous position… the word calls it out and we are to make personal adjustments. The righteous judgement of God’s word helps to improve who we are if we listen. Yes… we can judge ourselves based on the word as we look to be in right standing with God… but for those who use it to destroy someone… you shall reap what you have sown.

Prayer for today: God forgive me if I self righteously judged and condemned someone. I need you to show me where I went wrong and help me to become wiser in how I use my mouth. I only want to speak life over a situation that may look dyer. In Your Holy name… Amen!
