This morning we spent some time at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, a mosaic garden build mostly of recycled glass, tires, pottery etc. It was beautiful!

After that we did some help around Old First Church. Building benches for their garden, planting and building a patio.

It was a busy day today! We split into two groups today. Two seperate soup kitchens. Team Micaela/ Mark went to Broad Street Love and served almost 300 people resturaunt style! We met a lot of great people, chatted and cracked some jokes! Team Pat/Matt went to St.Francis and helped sort, pick up garbage and serve almost 200 people! We are ending that day at Love Park serving the community another meal! We are passing out blankets, clothes, food and harm prevention supplies. It was a tired but rewarding day! SPF is rocking it!

Spent the first 4 hours of the day at Galeli, a community center for the LGBTQ+ community that offers resources, socialization and therapy groups. We sorted through ( what seemed like) hundreds of bags of clothes which will be donated all over the city to struggling members of the LGBTQ community.

Galeli anticipated it would take us the whole day to complete this project, but SPF works FAST! Off to enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city and getting Philly Cheesesteaks!

After quite a few public bus system delays we made it to Caring for Friends, an all volunteer organization that delivered sandwiches and food out around the city. As a group we assembled 1,000 sandwiches and packaged them to be delivered to the homeless population in Philadelphia! Starting the week off strong with this rockstar group!

Final HOT day started with cleaning, then a planned carnival for the kids filled with water balloons and musical chairs. We ended the day with senior worship and a quick fire! Headed home Tomrorow! A powerful week with a lot of bonding!
