It was a beautiful Sunday to enjoy time together as a church community.

Our garden is already giving us tomatoes, and we picked some fresh ones to enjoy together. We also packed and delivered care packages made possible by the generous donations we received throughout the month. Thank you to everyone who gave, packed, and helped deliver them to our neighbors in need.

After worship, our Small Groups gave us another wonderful opportunity to spend time together.

We are grateful for the warmth and generosity that make our church a place where we can care for one another and our neighbors.

Last Thursday, Pastor Chris and Jordan launched our new Parking Lot Ministry at Hope UMC. We set up a small welcome booth in front of the church parking lot, greeted families during school pickup, and offered complimentary beverages.

We were encouraged to see so many parents and children using our parking lot. One parent thanked us for making the parking lot available to families. It was a simple but meaningful reminder that sharing our space can help us connect with our neighbors.

We will continue this ministry once a month, with our next gathering on September 16 (Wed). If you have 40 minutes to spare, we would love to have you join us!

Yesterday was a beautiful and grace-filled day at Hope UMC as we celebrated the baptism of four adults and two children—Nalani, Andrew, Michael, Suli, Jennifer, and Sean. It was a deeply moving moment to witness their public profession of faith and to welcome them into the family of God.
As a church family, we pledge to surround them with our love, prayers, and encouragement, supporting them as they grow to become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

A big thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to help care for the church garden! Your time and hard work are a reminder that caring for God's creation and caring for our church go hand in hand.

From June 26–29, I attended the 178th Session of the California-Nevada Annual Conference in Sacramento. For those unfamiliar with it, the Annual Conference is the primary gathering of United Methodist clergy and lay representatives. It is much more than a business meeting. It is a time of worship, prayer, discernment, celebration, and decision-making as we seek God's direction for our shared ministry.

This year's conference reflected the rich diversity of our conference family. Worship was vibrant, led by youth and young adults, while delegates from many cultures and backgrounds gathered to pray, sing, and serve together. Throughout the conference we celebrated retirements, honored the faithful lives of clergy and spouses who passed away this past year, commissioned and ordained new ministers, elected delegates for future General and Jurisdictional Conferences, approved the 2027 budget, and acted on legislation that will shape our conference's ministry in the years ahead. The atmosphere was one of gratitude for God's faithfulness and hope for the future of the church.

On a personal note, this conference was especially meaningful for me. My membership was officially transferred from the Wisconsin Annual Conference to the California-Nevada Annual Conference, making this conference my new ministry home. I am also grateful that Bishop Sandra Olewine and the Cabinet reappointed me to continue serving Hope United Methodist Church for another year. In the United Methodist Church, pastoral appointments are renewed annually, so I receive this reappointment with deep gratitude and a renewed commitment to serve faithfully alongside you.

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and partnership in ministry. I look forward to another year of growing together as we seek to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ in our community.

-Pastor Chris

Yesterday, we were blessed to celebrate Father’s Day during worship. We took time to honor and give thanks for the fathers and father figures in our congregation.
We are grateful for the many ways they have loved, supported, and encouraged others through the years. May God continue to bless and strengthen them in their important calling.
After worship, we gathered for a wonderful potluck meal filled with delicious food and meaningful fellowship. We are especially thankful to everyone who prepared and shared food, helping to make the celebration such a special occasion.
