First Baptist Church of South Plainfield Join us any Sunday from 10:30-11:30. Sunday School for children and youth takes place during worship.

The Community of faith now known as the First Baptist Church of South Plainfield began meeting on December 11, 1792, over two hundred years ago. Initially the Samptown Baptist Church, we were first housed on the land which is now known as Hillside Cemetery at Samptown. Now over two hundred years later, we are now located at 201 Hamilton Blvd. After many years of changes, our church still stands strong. As our mission statement says 'Led by the Love of God, we are a caring family of faith, committed to spiritual growth and ministering to those in need.'

We hold Sunday School every week from 9:30-10:30
Our regular service is held on Sunday mornings from 10:30-11:30

The Learning Lab STEAM program resumes next week, September 22!

This FREE program is open to children in grades K-6 and meets weekly through the school year on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM.

We are excited to announce that our Teen Social Group will be resuming this Friday, September 18. This month will be a Back Together Bash including minute-to-win-it games, snack, and social time.

The Teen Social Group is a program that invites teens and young adults, ages 13-21, with a disability or special healthcare need to participate, along with siblings and friends. For 2026-2027, we plan to meet monthly on the third Friday evening, providing an opportunity for participants to socialize while engaging in different themed activities.

There is no charge to participate in this program.

Join us on Sunday for brunch at 10:30 AM! We will be right outside our church building in the sanctuary under tents. In addition to breakfast, we will sing hymns together, hear some of the history of First Baptist Church, and worship. All are invited to join us as we celebrate South Plainfield's 100th anniversary.

This Sunday, September 6, we are doing something a little different for worship. As South Plainfield is celebrating it's 100th anniversary, we will be holding an outdoor brunch at 10:30 AM. During our time of fellowship, we will sing hymns, hear about some of the history of First Baptist in South Plainfield (and before!), and enjoy a delicious meal. Anyone in the community is invited to join us.
