Today, we pause to honor the life and legacy of Barbara Sullivan, one of the founders of Spirit of God Fellowship.
Long before many of us walked through these doors, Barbara and her husband, Dr. John Sullivan, simply said yes to God. They served His church, loved His people, and poured themselves into the lives of those around them.
We don't think they ever dreamed of what that simple yes would become. They weren't building for recognition or thinking about what would one day be remembered. They were simply being faithful to what God had placed in front of them.
Barbara had a heart for pouring into others. She poured into a generation that would one day become the leaders, parents, pastors, servants, and builders of the generations that followed.
And that is the beautiful thing about legacy.
You may never fully see how far your yes will reach.
Today, we are standing in the fruit of seeds planted decades ago. Spirit of God Fellowship is home to generations of people who have worshipped here, grown here, served here, found community here, and encountered Jesus here. And now, we have the privilege, and the responsibility, of carrying that work forward.
We inherited something worth stewarding well.
Not simply for ourselves.
Not simply for the church we are today.
But for the people who haven't walked through our doors yet.
For the young adults finding their way right now.
For the children who will one day become the leaders.
For generations we may never personally meet.
Barbara's earthly work is complete, but the impact of a life faithfully poured out for Jesus continues through every life touched by what she helped build.
Our prayers are with the Sullivan family and all who knew and loved her.
And from all of us who have been entrusted with carrying this legacy forward:
Thank you, Barbara. We will steward it well. 🤍
