❄️ When the Storm Settles ❄️

Winter weather has a way of slowing everything down. Roads close. Plans change. We’re reminded that we are not as in control as we sometimes think.

Snow may cover the ground and storms may interrupt our schedules, but they never interrupt God’s faithfulness.

Isaiah 1:18 says, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”
What a beautiful reminder that just as snow covers the earth, God’s grace covers us completely.

While you’re home because of the weather, may this be more than just a cancelled plan — may it be a quiet moment to rest, pray, gather with family, and reflect on the goodness of God.

Stay safe. Stay warm. And remember — even in the coldest season, God is still at work. 🙏🏼

Due to the inclement weather and for the safety of our church family, Oakland Christian Church will not hold services on Sunday, January 25, 2026. ❄️

While we won’t be together in the building, we remain united in prayer. Today we especially lift up VDOT workers, power and utility crews, EMS, and all first responders who are working long hours in difficult and dangerous conditions to keep our communities safe. May God grant them protection, strength, and wisdom. 🙏🏼

📖 “The Lord watches over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” — Psalm 121:8

Even when plans change, God does not. Take this time to rest, stay safe, check on a neighbor, and spend a few quiet moments with the Lord. We look forward to worshipping together again next week.

📘 Devotional 5 — “The Line Is Drawn”

Scripture: John 7:52

John 7 ends without a conclusion — on purpose.
The people argue. The leaders mock. The guards hesitate. Nicodemus steps forward. And the chapter stops.

Why?
Because your response matters more than theirs.
Every person must decide: Who is Jesus to you?
Not to your family. Not to your church. Not to your past.

To YOU.

Prayer:
“Jesus, I choose You today.”

One of the last points in this sermon series contains a message that society is confronted with now more than ever, but the choice is still OURS!

📘 Devotional 4 — “Don’t Be Pulled by the Crowd”
Scripture: John 7:49 The Pharisees mocked the crowds, saying they were too "uneducated” to recognize truth. Their message was clear:
“Think like us. Follow us. Don’t think for yourself.”

Crowds still pressure us today — culture, peers, trends,media.
But truth isn’t found in popularity.
Truth is found in the person of Jesus. Choose Him even if no one else around you does.

Prayer:
“Jesus, help me follow You instead of the crowd.”

Scripture: John 7:43

People responded differently to Jesus — belief, doubt, rejection, hesitation.
The same happens today.
Every encounter with Jesus is a crossroads:
Move toward Him or move away.

Choose Him today.

Prayer:
“Lord, draw my heart toward You.”
