Unfortunately, we are canceling STEM again today due to the continued poor air quality.

Today's activity was going to be our **Bottle Rocket Challenge**, and as much as we were looking forward to sending rockets soaring, it's simply not safe for students, families, or volunteers to spend that amount of time outside in the current conditions.

We know this is disappointing. We've missed spending the week exploring, building, and discovering with all of you. But one of the most important lessons in STEM is using evidence to make good decisions. Right now, the evidence tells us that staying indoors is the safest choice.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support this week. We hope the smoke clears soon so we can get back to learning together.

Please continue to follow local air quality recommendations, limit outdoor activity when possible, and stay safe. 💙🚀

🚨 TODAY’S STEM CLASS IS CANCELED 🚨

Due to heavy wildfire smoke and poor air quality in South Haven, we have made the difficult decision to cancel STEM today.

The Air Quality Index has reached unhealthy levels, and state health officials are encouraging everyone to stay indoors, keep windows and doors closed, and limit physical activity. Since keeping our students, families, volunteers, and presenters safe must come first, we believe canceling is the right choice.

We are so disappointed to miss a day of learning together, but we hope everyone stays safely inside and breathes a little easier today! Please help us spread the word to anyone who planned to attend.

🚀 What a fantastic first week of STEM! 🌟
Our young scientists have been busy exploring, experimenting, and asking incredible questions!
👽 We cracked secret alien messages and even observed sunspots with Mrs. Olson.
🦴 We built edible spines and learned about our amazing bodies with Dr. Izzy.
🏠 We engineered houses to withstand the Big Bad Wolf and discovered the tiny wonders of our world with Ms. Sarah.
And we're just getting started!
🌿 **This week's adventures include:**
🦕 Exploring fossils and uncovering clues from Earth's ancient past.
👅 Discovering how our sense of taste really works.
🌸 Learning about the remarkable life of **Dr. Liberty Hyde Bailey**, the world-famous horticulturist who was born right here in South Haven, and exploring the plants that shape our world.
🚀 Finishing the week with an exciting bottle rocket launch!
🗓 **Classes meet Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.**
Whether your child joins us for one day or several, every class is a brand new adventure. **You do not need to sign up for the entire week.** Pick the topics that spark your child's curiosity!
We'd love to welcome some new young scientists this week. Come explore, create, build, and discover with us! 🔬✨

All programs will be held at First United Methodist Church South Haven at 429 Michigan Ave. South Haven, MI 49090. Programs are between 11am and 1 pm. Parents are welcome but not necessary.
