A Pastoral Announcement - the Passing of Rosemary Thurber
Dear friends in Christ,
I'm writing today to let you know that Rosie Thurber has died. Her children, Greg and Sara, were at her bedside along with a few staff members at Laurel Oaks when she peacefully passed around 11:00 Monday morning.
This news will not come as a surprise to everyone, as many have been aware of Rosie’s decline in recent weeks. Sara was in church last Sunday, and she discussed her mom’s health openly with several of us. That does not make this passing any less difficult. Rosie has been a pillar of our church for decades and a good friend, always ready with her quick wit and a wry smile, even through our final times together this spring. Her presence at Epiphany and in the community will be deeply missed.
As of now, the family is still deciding how best to remember her. Those decisions may take some time, as they often do. For now, I ask that everyone respect their privacy and respect any time they need to take to weigh the decisions they have in front of them. Our church - Rosie’s church - will be ready for whatever they ask of us whenever they ask us to be there for them.
Please do keep Sara, Greg, and Rosie’s entire family in your prayers this week, as well as each other, all of us at Epiphany who knew and loved her. And as always, if you need someone to talk to about Rosie or her death, my phone number is listed below. Please do not mourn alone.
May we all rest and take comfort in the peace and love of Christ,
John+
