What does it mean to be "redeemed"?
To be "redeemed" means to be rescued, restored, or bought back from a negative state—such as debt, captivity, or bo***ge—usually by paying a price.
In the Spiritual/Biblical context -
It means bought back from sin: in Christian theology, it refers to God saving humanity from the bo***ge of sin, guilt, and death.
The ransom: It is the belief that Jesus Christ paid a costly "price" (His sacrifice on the cross) to set people free and restore them into a relationship with God.
New identity: Being spiritually redeemed means your past mistakes and guilt are forgiven, and you are adopted as a beloved child of God.
Spiritual redemption means your past is covered. Rather than living under the heavy burden of regret or self-condemnation, a redeemed person internalizes the knowledge that they are forgiven. This allows them to view their past mistakes and scars as testimonies of healing and grace rather than sources of hidden shame.
What does being redeemed feel like or look like in your life? If you can't claim, "I'm redeemed by the blood of the Lamb" (from the hymn "I'm Redeemed"), come meet us at the Cross.
Sunday, June 7, guest speaker, Scott Carlisle, will be speaking on "Characteristics of the Redeemed." Sunday morning services start at 10 am. 603 Green St., South Haven.
