"On the cross, Jesus did not remain at a safe distance and simply assure us that He cared. He entered fully into our suffering, taking upon Himself our sin, shame, sorrow, and death.

By every ordinary measure, Jesus appeared to be conquered by his enemies. His enemies stripped Him, shamed Him, and handed Him over to death. But the suffering of the cross was not the defeat of God’s love. It was the place where the conquering power of His love was most fully revealed..."

"When Paul says that God will 'graciously give us all things,' he does not mean that God will give us everything we want. He means that the Father who has already given His Son will withhold nothing necessary to complete our salvation: resurrection, glory, the redemption of our bodies, and life with Him in the restored creation.

The cross has revealed God’s heart toward us. The resurrection has revealed where His purposes are leading us.

Friends, the deepest assurance of the Gospel is not the strength of our grasp upon God, but the strength of God’s grasp upon us..."

"And because we have been adopted, the Spirit teaches us a new way of speaking to God. Not merely as creator. Not merely as judge. Not merely as Almighty God, but as Abba Father.

That little word 'Abba' is deeply personal. It is the cry of a child who knows exactly where their heart longs to be. It is the language of trust, affection, and belonging.

Perhaps that is why Jesus taught His disciples to begin every prayer with the same words: 'Our Father...'

Before he teaches us what to ask for, before he teaches us how to forgive, before he teaches us anything else, he reminds us whose we are.

Everything else in the Christian life flows from that reality; that He is our Father, and we belong to Him."

"Baptism is central to the Christian faith precisely because it visibly proclaims the invisible reality that now defines the Christian life: our salvation is union with Christ...

And Baptism is not merely something that lives in our past. It is the beginning of an entirely new life. In one sense, every baptized Christian is still living out their baptism today. Until the day we are raised with Christ in glory, the Christian life is learning to live the baptismal life, daily dying to sin and daily rising to walk with Christ."

"But what if I told you that life is actually far more unfair than we know?...

The life of Jesus Christ reigns more powerfully than sin ever reigned in us. That is the astonishing claim Paul is making! The life that now comes to us through Christ is greater than the death that came through Adam. The grace of God is greater than the sin that ruined us. And the righteousness of Christ is greater than all the condemnation we inherited!

That is not fair. That is the love and mercy and grace of our God."

Special Guest Missionary Presentation – Amos Khatiwada

Potluck dinner, fellowship, and a special presentation

Dinner starts at 6:00 PM

Join us as we welcome Amos Khatiwadas, a missionary from Nepal, who will be sharing about his ministry among the Hindu people. Amos and his wife serve in a challenging and unique mission field where the Gospel is bringing hope and transformation to communities that have little exposure to Christianity.

Currently spending the summer in South Haven while on furlough, Amos brings a thoughtful and insightful perspective on missions, discipleship, and the work of the Gospel across cultures.

"The Gospel does not pretend we are better than we are, nor does God reconcile us by ignoring our sin. The cross reveals just how serious our separation from God truly is. And yet the remarkable thing is this: it is the greatest show of Christ’s love for us. Not after we improved ourselves. Not after we became worthy. Not after we overcame our failures and shame. Christ died for us while we were still sinners."

This week at Holy Trinity, we reflected on "The Voice of the Gospel" from Romans 5:1–11, the peace, grace, and reconciliation we have through Jesus Christ.

Yahweh is the God who “gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.”

Abraham believed God could bring life out of his dead body and Sarah’s barren womb. And now Paul says, through the Gospel, through what Abraham could not yet see but we now proclaim, God has done something even greater than giving Abraham and Sarah a child in their old age. Because God truly did bring life from the dead, not just from Sarah’s womb, but from the womb of the earth, from the empty tomb.
