Smiles and wags!

A huge thank you to the Mustard Seed Group from Christ United Methodist Church for spending the afternoon volunteering with us.

They spiffed up our lobby, swept kennels, organized supplies, and even handled the grass with w**d eaters (Thanks Frank and Richard!). And they still made time to hang out with the cats and walk some very appreciative dogs.

Community help like this makes a real difference around here, and we appreciate every bit of it.

What does Juneteenth mean for Christians today?

It’s an opportunity to celebrate freedom, confront injustice, and align our hearts with God’s ongoing work of liberation.

On Juneteenth, we remember June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation finally reached enslaved people in Texas, marking the fulfillment of freedom promised more than two years earlier.

As we honor this day, we give thanks for the courage and resilience of those who endured oppression and those who worked for freedom. May Juneteenth inspire us to continue building communities where every person is valued, dignity is upheld, and hope, justice, and love guide our shared future.

Yesterday’s 'Chosen to Rejoice' District Day was a wonderful time of fun and fellowship between the Cornerstone and Niagara Frontier Districts! We took a moment to honor Susan Hardy for her years of dedicated service as the Cornerstone District Lay Leader, Conference Lay Leader, and beyond. It was a special moment as she officially passed the torch to our new Cornerstone District Lay Leader, Gabriella Wilson Wilson. We are so excited to see the vision and energy Gabi brings to this leadership position, and we look forward to supporting her as she begins this new chapter of ministry with us.

What a fantastic day! ☀️

It was so wonderful to see dozens of friends from the Cornerstone and Niagara Frontier districts coming together today at the beautiful Crossings in South Dayton.

The day was filled with laughter, great conversation, and plenty of rejoicing as we celebrated our community and the bonds we share. It’s always a blessing to step away from the busy week and enjoy some quality time with such amazing people.

Thank you to everyone who made the trip and contributed to making today so special. We are already looking forward to the next time we can all gather!
