We are a new church plant from the West Virginia Baptist Convention which uses an awesome praise band and encouraging and challenging preaching to inspire members and attendees to step up and out in faith for Jesus Christ. We strive to provide a safe and secure envir

onment for our children as we teach them how to live the life God has set out for them. We also have a growing youth group which meets every Tuesday at 6:30pm. If you want to be active in an exciting, growing church then Genesis Fellowship is the place for you and your family. As a Pastor, I have received all kinds of phone calls requesting prayer. Prayers for healing after an unexpected medical diagnosis. Prayers for comfort over the loss of a loved one. Yesterday's call was a first. There was an active shooter incident at her grandsons school . I prayed with my friend and asked our church family to lift them up in prayer as well.

This situation could have been so much worse and I thank God for his protection over these students and faculty. I continue to lift them up in prayer as they process these events. But I know that many lives changed forever after Yesterday's events.

Jesus spoke often about child like faith. Our children wake up in the morning and go to school believing that they will be safe and protected. They believe they will come home to loving parents, a warm meal and their needs being met. They don't question it. They just have faith that it will happen.

This incident is a reminder that we don't live in a perfect world. Evil lurks just around the corner. The staff at this school and the first responders are to be commended for keeping these students safe and maintaining a sense of calm in unimaginable situation.

We should never become so callous over all of the negative news that we hear daily that we no longer feel compassion for those who are hurting and those who need to be protected.

Continue to keep not only this school in Waynesboro VA in your prayers, but all of our schools that all who enter their halls can do so with the assurance that they will be safe.

Update from Donna. Her grandson is home and safe!!! Praise God for answered prayers. No new details as this is still an active investigation. Prayers for the students, teachers and their families as they deal with such a traumatic event.

I received a call from Donna Skeen asking prayer for her grandson David and their family. Details are minimal at this time, but there was an active shooter at David's school. The school are transporting children to a church in the area. Reports are that at least one teacher was shot in the leg. Donna will provide me with updates and I will pass them onto you. Please keep them in prayer.

Blood drive update. We have 6 slots open for blood donation. The times open are as follows:
1:45, 2:15, 2:30, 3:00, 4;00 and 4:15.

The drive is Wednesday, September 16th from 1 to 6 P.M. If one of these times will work for you, let me know and I will get you on the list.

Please consider being a blood donor. Blood donations are used for traumatic injuries, life saving surgeries, cancer treatments and more. The gift of your blood could quite literally save a life. You can register on the Red Cross website, contact me or sign up on the list at church. Thanks for considering this very important cause.

We are quickly approaching our blood drive on September 16th. We still have 11 spots that need to be filled. You can contact me directly and I can get you registered, you can sign up yourself by going on the Red Ctoss website and there is a sign up sheet in the back of the sanctuary. Our church lawn was mowed today. Our lawn care person had to deal with some issues from the flash flooding last week and was unable to mow our lawn last week.
