Genesis Fellowship is a contemporary style, casual dress church which meets in South Charleston, WV every Sunday morning at 10:00am. We are a new church plant from the West Virginia Baptist Convention which uses an awesome praise band and encouraging and challenging preaching to inspire members and attendees to step up and out in faith for Jesus Christ. We strive to provide a safe and secure envir

onment for our children as we teach them how to live the life God has set out for them. We also have a growing youth group which meets every Tuesday at 6:30pm. If you want to be active in an exciting, growing church then Genesis Fellowship is the place for you and your family. We invite you to join us as we learn how Jesus Christ can lead, guide and direct every aspect of our lives.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our Spring Carnival today ! Those who ran the games, our kitchen divas and all who shared their kids with us today. A special thanks to Randy Norman for locating a dunk tank ( it was a huge hit). And a very special thanks to Sarah Newcomb ! She always manages to make these events look effortless! You all are amazing!

Please keep Herb and Amanda Farley in your prayers. Herb's brother went home to be with Jesus over the weekend. His obituary is posted on the church page as well as my personal one. The Farley family is near and dear to our hearts. Lift them up and be their rock during this difficult time.

William Glenn “Bill” Farley, 39, of Griffithsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Born December 8, 1986, in Pike County, Kentucky, he was the son of Herbert Farley, Jr. and Sherri Preece. Bill moved to Griffithsville in 2002 and was a 2005 graduate of Hamlin High School.

A certified diesel mechanic by trade, Bill’s greatest passion in life was youth sports. He dedicated many years to serving the Lincoln County community as a youth soccer and basketball coach, deeply touching the lives of every player who crossed his path.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Farley, Jr.; his oldest brother, Thomas Francis; his maternal grandparents, Bill and Iva Meade; and his paternal grandparents, Herbert, Sr. and Ruby Farley.

Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his beloved daughters, Makenzie and Emily Farley of Hamlin; his parents, Sherri and Jeff Preece of Griffithsville; his brothers, Herb (Amanda) Farley of St. Albans, Justin Farley of McCarr, KY and Jate Preece (Bailey Adkins) of Griffithsville; his sister, Alexus Farley of McCarr, KY; his nephew, Hayden Farley; his niece, Harper Farley; and his lifelong friends, Bert Ward and Michael Joyce.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, June 12, 2026, at Curry Funeral Home in Alum Creek, with Pastor Rick Cooper officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8pm, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the funeral home.

July 17-18, 2026, Genesis Fellowship will host the movie, "Heart on Fire" at the LaBelle Theater in South Charleston. Doors open at 6 P.M. and movie begins at 6:30. Admission is free. All you pay for is concessions. Invite a friend and come watch this awesome movie of faith and endurance.
