If you missed our service today, you missed a great one! New songs were sung, the handbells played a wonderful new song, baptism, communion, and much more!
Our church believes in baptism AFTER belief in Jesus Christ.
You may ask, what does that mean, exactly?
If you are baptized as a baby, your parents wanted you to grow up in the Christian faith. That choice was theirs, not yours. However, when you are baptized after belief in the death, burial, and resurrection on Jesus Christ, it is a symbol that YOU have chosen to believe.
When the pastor is preparing to baptize someone, he usually says a few words: "Buried in the likeness of His death, and raised in the likeness of His resurrection."
In Romans 6, it describes that baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."
Baptism doesn't get you into heaven. It doesn't effect forgiveness of sins. It's not a requirement to be saved. BUT, it shows everyone else, "Hey, I believe in Jesus!"
And that, is why baptism is so important. If you haven't been baptized and would like to be, send us a message!
Please join us next Sunday or watch online on the livestream at 11:00am.
