We meet at 10 AM for Sunday School and at 11:00 PM for Worship Service. In the very early part of the nineteenth century, when this part of the world was still being settled, Elder Daniel Burford, a minister of Dixon's Creek Church, began preaching near where the Caney Fork River empties into the Cumberland. The Lord blessed this work, people were saved, joined the body, and Hogan's Creek began to
grow. In June 1806, the Church at Dixon's Creek extended an arm and Hogan's Creek continued under the supervision of the mother Church at Dixon's Creek. Elder Burford was chosen as our pastor. In the fall of that year "seats" were constructed in the town of Carthage and the body met regularly there until 1808 when they moved to a new meeting house on the south side of the river, near the mouth of the Caney Fork. We worshiped there as an arm of Dixon's Creek until June 30, 1810 when they were constituted into an independent church. There were 48 members at that time and the church was known by the name of Caney Fork. The Church continued to worship here with Elder William Flowers as pastor until 1818. They then moved approximately two miles south of Carthage to the banks of Hogan's Creek. A new house of worship was constructed and the name was changed to Hogan's Creek. The first service was held in the new building in December 1819. In 1860, just before the Civil War, the church constructed a new house of worship. Although changed and remodeled several times over the years, this is the building we now worship in. Over two hundred years after our establishment we are still meeting every Sunday morning.
