When Joe Buchanan last joined us for Simchat Torah, he shared “Choosing to Be Chosen” — the story of his journey to becoming a Jew by choice. That same weekend, Hamas attacked Israel. Three years later, Joe returns to Temple Sinai to pick up where that story left off: what it’s meant to be a Jew by choice in the wake of October 7th, his first trip to Israel, and what it was like to be held by this community in the days that followed. He’ll also speak candidly about the Forward article that criticized his story — and why he’s still standing by it. Join us for bagels and conversation as Joe shares an honest, personal look at faith tested and renewed.
