We would love for you to join us as we spend this service focused on worship, prayer, and dependence upon the Lord.

Please note that because of the format of today’s service, there will be no recorded sermon message available online this week.

This past Sunday, Pastor Chris preached from Deuteronomy 4:1–24 in a sermon titled “The God Who Speaks from the Fire.”

In this passage, Moses calls Israel to remember the day they stood before the mountain that burned with fire, darkness, cloud, and dense gloom. Out of the fire, Yahweh spoke. He revealed Himself not through an image, but through His Word. His people were called to listen, remember, and refuse the idols that cannot speak, save, love, or give life.

This sermon reminds us that God is near to His people. He speaks, He instructs, He warns, and He rescues. He is a consuming fire and a jealous God, yet in Christ, sinners are able to draw near and live. The fire that should have consumed us fell on Christ in our place.

Listen to the sermon and be encouraged to cling to the God who has spoken.

This Sunday at Faith Community Church, Pastor Chris continued our series through Deuteronomy with a sermon titled “God’s Faithfulness Through the Wilderness” from Deuteronomy 2–3.

In these chapters, Israel looks back on years of wandering, warfare, and even failure, yet through every step God remained faithful to His covenant promises. From the wilderness journey, to the victories over Sihon and Og, to Moses standing on Mount Pisgah looking into the land he would never enter, this passage reminds us that God’s faithfulness does not depend on the strength of His people, but on His own unchanging character.

The sermon also explored God’s justice in the conquest, His patience toward the nations, and how these events ultimately point us to Jesus Christ, the greater Joshua who brings His people into eternal rest.

This Sunday at Faith Community Church, Pastor Chris continued our study through Deuteronomy with a sermon titled:

“The Cost of Unbelief”
Deuteronomy 1:19–46

At Kadesh-barnea, Israel stood at the edge of the Promised Land with every reason to trust God. They had seen His power, His provision, and His faithfulness. Yet fear and unbelief caused them to turn away from the very promise God had placed before them.

In this passage, we will see how unbelief questions God’s promises, magnifies obstacles, distorts God’s character, and leads to spiritual presumption. We will also be reminded that even as Christians, we can struggle with doubt and fear, yet God remains faithful to His people.

Have you ever felt stuck spiritually… like you’ve been sitting in the same place for too long?

This Sunday, Pastor Chris started our new series in Deuteronomy with a message from Deuteronomy 1:1–18 titled “When God Says, ‘Enough Sitting’.”

Join us as we see:
• Why even good spiritual moments are not meant to be permanent
• How God calls His people forward into something greater
• And how God equips us so we never walk alone
• Ultimately, knowing that God is gracious through and through - He does not change! He is the same God in the Old Testament as He is in the New.

Faith Community Church is seeking a Worship Leader

Faith Community Church is prayerfully seeking a man to serve as a Worship Leader who is committed to Christ, grounded in Scripture, and desires to lead God’s people in worship that is shaped by the Word and not performance.

Our aim in corporate worship is simple: to exalt Christ, proclaim the truth, and build up the church through biblically faithful, congregational singing.

We are looking for someone who:

- Has a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ
- Is spiritually mature and teachable
- Holds to sound doctrine and values theological depth in worship
- Can lead musically (vocally and/or instrumentally)
- Understands that worship is for the glory of God and the edification of the church

If you are interested or know someone who may be a good fit, we invite you to learn more about the position and apply here:

https://fccsobo.org/worship-leader/

Please take time to read through the description carefully before applying.

We would also appreciate your prayers as we seek the right person for this role.

What carries you through the fire?

The world around us is reaching for resurrection, restoration, and a future, and trying to grab all three without God. But Peter writes to suffering believers and names a hope the world has no category for: a hope that is alive, an inheritance that cannot fade, and a joy that holds even when the trial is hot.

Let's behold Christ together and worship!

What does the Bible actually say about how this world ends?

This Sunday at Faith Community Church, we continued our series From Resurrection to Restoration with a look at Revelation 21–22: "The World That Is Coming."

Two stories dominate our culture right now: one says the world is collapsing and there's no hope. The other says we'll engineer our way to utopia. Both of them leave God out. And that's why both of them fail.

Scripture tells a different story. God is restoring creation. The new heavens and new earth are a restoration of all that is broken. And what makes it heaven isn't the streets of gold or the absence of pain. It's this:

"Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them." — Revelation 21:3

Face to face with God. No curtain. No distance. Forever.

If you missed Sunday's message or want to share it with someone who needs hope, join us next week as we turn to 1 Peter 1:3–9 and ask: how do we live NOW in light of what is coming?

What is heaven going to be like?

Have you ever thought about creation as a picture of what it might be?

Today, we opened up Genesis 1-3 to see how God created everything and how man marred that creation. With this, the Bible speaks about restoring what was lost and broken.

This Resurrection Sunday, we opened our new series "From Resurrection to Restoration: Our Hope of a New Creation" with a look at 1 Corinthians 15.

The world's best efforts to defeat death always fall short. But two thousand years ago, a King walked out of a sealed tomb on His own authority and has never stopped being alive. Christ died as our substitute, was buried, and was raised on the third day. And His resurrection is not just an event we celebrate once a year. It is a promise with your name on it.

Death is an enemy. But it is a defeated enemy. And one day, it will be abolished entirely.

If you missed Sunday's message, we'd love for you to join us as we continue this series over the next three weeks, tracing the line from the empty tomb all the way to the new heavens and new earth.
