We are thankful for the gift of being able to go directly to God in prayer. Continue to pray this week for several of the things we have been praying for in Sunday School. God is still at work today!

Due to being a little under the weather this week we will be combining with adults this week. Very sorry. Next week we will begin our study on our next king. And then the following week follow up with a list of questions and test that will show us if the Bible is our main influence in developing convictions.

Last Sunday we talked about King Ahaziah the son of King Jehoram.
2 Chronicles 22:2 states that Ahaziah was 42 when he began to reign. However we see from 2 Chronicles 21:20 that his father, Jehoram, was 40 when he died.
This question came up at the end of Sunday School. Logically this does not add up.
There is a parallel passage in 2 Kings 8:26,
Where it states that Ahaziah was 22 when he began to reign. This makes much more logical sense. However is this a contradiction? And which one is right?
All the commentaries I have read (12 commentaries including Henry Morris, Poole, Gill, Ellicott, Ryrie, Geisler, etc.) all agree that 2 Chronicles 22:2 is a copiers error (meaning in the transcripts it was copied down wrong). The only other explanation is that possibly the verse is referring to the age of Ahaziah’s mother. However there is no evidence for that.
I do not believe that this is a contradiction of Scripture but rather an evidence of How God has chosen to preserve His word through the copying and translations of imperfect man.
I hope this helps some of you understand the passage a bit better. All the scholars I have read agree Ahaziah was 22 when he began to reign. Let me know if you have any questions:)

THIS JUST IN! We have narrowed our search to 6 suspects around at the time of the murder. The interesting part is, all 6 suspects are members of our church. They are people who you have spoken with, you have sat in the same pew before, and you have shaken their hand during fellowship time. Who are these 6 suspects and who committed the murder! Come Friday February 16th at 6 o’clock to help us find out!
