By now Job was deeply discouraged. He felt like God was against him, was intentionally silent, had turned away and was bringing up past sins. Further adding to his discouragement were Job's friend's misguided voices. They were trying to defend God but actually were misrepresenting Him, speaking lies, using faulty arguments and talking in cliches when they should have just been quiet and listened. Job felt worthless. Job, at that moment, didn't realize that God was aware of his suffering, yet he remained hopeful. God did not condemn Job's emotional expressions but He did confront the inaccuracies in his complaints. In fact, addressing God from his place of discouragement led Job to a divine encounter.
These verses contain three simple principles regarding discouragement:
1. We have permission to express our troubles to God.
2. God is present and attentive even when we think He is absent.
3. The simplest way to support someone who is discouraged is to spend time with them, listen attentively and gently point them to Jesus.

Core Meanings and Lessons:

God's Sovereign Limits: Satan operates only under God's boundaries; he cannot do whatever he pleases. God controls how far trials can go.

Rejecting Transactional Faith: Job rejects the idea that people only serve God in exchange for continuous health, wealth, or comfort. True faith worships God for who He is, not just for what He gives.

Accepting Adversity: Job's famous question shows his deep spiritual maturity: human beings readily accept good gifts from God, so they must also submit to His providence when hard times come. Bold Faith!

Why do good people suffer?
According to his friends Eliphaz, Bildad and Zophar, Job must have done bad things in sin so he is being punished. But God told them Job was godly and their interpretation doesn't represent who Job is. Job's story is not about suffering, it's really about an encounter with God. It shows how Sovereign God is; even satan is subject to His rule and can do nothing without His permission. God sometimes uses evil to test His people and it is an opportunity to grow in faith and move forward. Job's story also points to God's justice - it is difficult to reconcile suffering with justice, but like Job, when we really experience God, and humble ourselves into the reality of what we have is because of God in the first place, and repent, God can then move in and reinstate our position and bless us with more than we lost! God's ways are always just, even when we do not fully understand them. But if we will trust Him, He will always bring us through. Bold Faith!

Queen Esther reveals her Jewish identity to King Xerxes (Ahasuerus) during a banquet and begs him to spare her life and the lives of her people from annihilation by Haman.

Summary of Events

Esther's Plea: Queen Esther asks the king to grant her life and the lives of her people, noting they have been sold for destruction.

The Comparison: She explains that if they were only sold as slaves, she would have remained silent, but the impending death of her people harms the king's kingdom.

The King's Reaction: King Xerxes angrily demands to know who would dare commit such an act.

The Accusation: Esther points directly at Haman, calling him a wicked enemy, which leaves Haman terrified.

Self-denial:
Even though Esther must have been afraid, knowing that she was breaking the law, she decided to trust God. Her statement, "If I perish, I perish." was not despair, but willingness to act however God willed, recognizing that the consequences were in His hands. Self- denial is not easy, but God NEVER fails His children. Bold Faith!

This scripture points out one of the main differences between Saul and David - FAITH! Saul looked at David's size and age and based his opinion of David's abilities off of how strong David looked - Saul relied on human strength. David, on the other hand, knew that it was God who gave him strength enough to kill lions and bears. David based his opinion of how God's faithfulness showed up in the past - David relied on God's strength.
Today, ask God to increase your faith from the ways he has worked in your life already.

Key Imagery and Symbolism

The White Horse and Rider (Verse 11): The white horse represents victory and war. Unlike His humble first coming on a donkey, Jesus returns with supreme power. He is called Faithful and True, showing He keeps every promise and judges with absolute fairness.

Eyes Like Fire and Many Crowns (Verse 12): His blazing eyes signify penetrating, holy judgment. The many royal crowns (diadems) show He holds supreme, undisputed authority over all nations. The unknown name represents a deep mystery and the ultimate holiness of God.

Robe Dipped in Blood and The Word of God (Verse 13): a symbol of victory over God's enemies, drawing from prophecies like Isaiah 63. The title The Word of God (Logos) identifies the rider as Jesus Christ, the living expression and exact representation of God in human flesh.

The phrase "laid bare before the eyes" suggests complete exposure and defenseless before God.
Empathize means "to suffer with" and expresses the feeling of one who has entered into suffering.
The command "Let us then approach" strongly contrasts with God's command at Mount Sinai: "Go not up into the mount, or touch the border of it." Because of Christ's priestly work, believers can approach God's presence.
The word confidence carries with it the idea of "fearlessness" or "courageousness." Believers should boldly approach God In prayer because Christ is our gracious High Priest who sits at God's right hand interceding for us.
