"No longer do I call you servants... but I have called you friends." (John 15:15)

Jesus didn't just call His disciples friends and leave it there — He proved it a few hours later by being arrested, tried, and executed for them. That's the kind of friend we have in Jesus.

Pruning isn't punishment. It's proof God isn't finished with you.

Jesus says the fruitful branch is exactly the one that gets cut (John 15:2) — not the dead one. If pruning only happened to unfruitful branches, we'd read every hardship as God giving up on us. But it's the opposite. Pruning is targeted at growth.

On the night before His crucifixion — with Judas just gone into the darkness — Jesus gave His disciples one final "I Am" statement: "I am the true vine."

Every "I Am" statement is exclusive. He's not a light among lights, or a gate among gates. He's THE way, THE truth, THE life. And when He says "true vine" — it means there's a false one.
