Continuing in our series, Bill Donahue guided us through Jesus’s ascension found in Luke 24:50-53. The ascension of Jesus is not an ending. It signifies the beginning of his reign over the world through the Holy Spirit.

This week, Nicole Howe invited us to read the story of Jesus reinstating Peter in John 21:15-19, as a “re-storying”. Following his resurrection, Jesus had an encounter with Peter that forever changed the direction of Peter’s life. Nicole reminded us that though Peter failed, Jesus did not leave him in that broken place.

Lent 2026 // Saturday 4 April

God of grieving,
God of silence,
there is a strange gift in having time,
one whole day this holy week,
to sit with questions of why and how long
and to hear no response at all.
To rush from Friday to Sunday,
from death to resurrection,
wouldn’t do either justice.
Nor would it dignify the life of those
whose daily pain and grief
and constant pleas for justice
go unanswered in the world’s daily rhythm.
Let your silence fill this silence,
until our empty noise dies out.
Amen.

This week, Jason led us through the final teaching in our series. When it comes to our default images of God, how might we be "transformed by the renewing of our mind"? Anchoring ourselves in the fullness of God's true image and character is not an intellectual exercise but is instead cultivated by the deepening our relational connection with God. Spiritual practices help to cultivate the right conditions for this type of relational connection. (PHOTO CREDIT: Aaron Burden) - https://mailchi.mp/thepracticechurch/thissundayatthepractice-5376487
