This month, we're casting the nets wide to help stock SAAM's shelves! Bring your donations of fish-themed food items for the pantry—canned salmon, canned tuna, premade tuna salad pouches, Goldfish crackers, Swedish Fish candy, or anything else with a fishy theme. A collection bin will be in the Narthex...you'll know it when you see it!

There's a beautiful image in the Jewish tradition that compares Scripture to a diamond. Just as a diamond catches the light differently each time you turn it, Scripture can reveal another facet of God's truth each time we return to it. The Jewish tradition describes this practice as "turning the gem."

When we return to familiar passages and turn the gem, the Holy Spirit opens our hearts to hear God's voice. I believe there are words in Scripture that wait for us. As we linger with them, the Holy Spirit reveals another facet of God's truth.

That idea inspired our new sermon series, Words That Wait for Us: When Scripture Calls Us Back.

Each week, I'll invite you to slow down and linger with me over a single word or phrase from Scripture. Together, we'll practice turning the gem, trusting that the Holy Spirit can use one small word to open a new window into God's Word.

Join us next Sunday for our next "waiting word".
