Raritan Valley Ministry with Young People

The Raritan Valley Ministry for Young People, a ministry of the Greater New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist Church

Raritan Valley Ministry for Young People (RVMYP) aims to provide a variety of opportunities for the young people in 5th-12th grade, in our district to build community, grow in faith, get connected to the Body of Christ, participate in service, and learn more about their Identity in Christ. We meet a few times a year as a means of enhancing the programming already in place at the individual church's in our district.

Youth students of United Methodists of Greater New Jersey throughout the Raritan Valley District gathered at First United Methodist Church of Somerville for an overnight lock-in. Great games, great worship, great message, great fellowship.

Reminder: the Raritan Valley district lock is Fri April 20-Sat April 21! Please mark your calendars and bring your youth groups to the lock in!

The lock in will be held at First UMC in Somerville (48 West High Street, Somerville 08876) and will be from 7:30pm on Fri April 20 (arrive and set up between 7-7:30pm) and will end at 10am on Sat April 21.

The evening will feature games, music, a time of devotions led by Eric Drew (the Greater New Jersey Conference Director of Worship), food, and a late night trip to YESTERcades in Somerville!

YESTERcades is a gaming experience straight out of the Golden Age of Gaming! A classic gaming experience in a fun atmosphere! YESTERcades has a variety of arcade video games that will satisfy every customer: from Space Invaders and Pac-Man, to Street Fighter and NBA Jam, and even classic pinball machines! YESTERcades also houses a number of gaming consoles available for play, from Atari 2600 and the original Nintendo Entertainment System, to XBOX ONE and Nintendo Wii U. Our game library is stocked with the top titles for each system for your gaming pleasure.
This promises to be a fun night when the youth of Raritan Valley can have a ton of fun, spend some time in worship, and make some new friends!

Snow doesn't stop youth ministry here in Raritan Valley!

The lock in planning meeting tonight (Wed March 21) at 7:30pm via Zoom will go on as planned! We are having this meeting via zoom so no driving in a snow storm is required!

During this meeting we will be finalizing the schedule for the lock in, firming up things like what is needed by way of supplies, food, etc.. In order to make this lock in a success, we do need some help with the planning and organizing of the event. If you are able to help out in any way, or even just want to hear more about the lock in, please join us in the meeting.

(Reminder: the lock in will be Fri April 20-early morning Sat April 21 and will be held at First UMC Somerville)

We have some exciting news! A district wide youth lock in is in the works! The date of the lock in will be Fri night April 20-early morning Sat April 21!

There will be a lock in planning meeting at 7pm on Monday Feb 26 at Bridgewater UMC. During this meeting we will work out where the lock in will be held, what the plan for the evening is, what activity we will be doing, etc... So we will have lots to discuss and work out so we can make sure this lock in is awesome for the youth of Raritan Valley District!

Please mark off April 20 on your calendar and please plan to attend the meeting on Feb 26.

Tonight (Thurs Feb 8) is the night! RVMYP meeting at 7pm at Simpson UMC Old Bridge (2095 Highway 516). Some networking, sharing ideas, and possibly planning a district wide lock in are on the agenda! Please come out and bring a HS student rep or two and anyone else involved in youth ministry at your church or any other church in the district as well. See you tonight!

Just a reminder there will be a Raritan Valley Ministry with Young People (RVMYP) meeting this Thursday (Feb 8). The meeting is at 7pm at Simpson United Methodist Church (2095 Highway 516; Old Bridge).*

During this first meeting of the year we will network with each other, share youth group/ministry ideas, and discuss a possible district wide lock in!

Anyone involved in any way with the youth group at your church is welcome, and please feel free to bring a HS youth group member rep (or more than 1 if you want!) too.

Reminder again about what the RVMYP is all about:

RVMYP is a group that consists of everyone involved in youth ministry in the Raritan Valley District. Whether you are a pastor, youth pastor, youth leader, adult volunteer, or have any involvement at all with the youth ministry in your church, you are welcome to come to these meetings. In addition to adults involved in youth ministry, we also invite and encourage high school youth group member(s) to come to the meetings as well because their insight and feedback is invaluable. During each meeting we discuss youth events we are planning to have on the district level, network with other youth leaders and youth groups, and share ideas about youth ministry. This group is for everyone whether you have hundreds of youth in your church, or (like me) just a handful, or even none currently.

I am excited about this year and about how we can all work together to help minister to the awesome young men and women of the Raritan Valley District.

The next Raritan Valley Ministry with Young People (RVMYP) meeting is scheduled for Thurs Feb 8 at Simpson UMC in Old Bridge. The meeting starts at 7pm.

I know there are people who are hearing about RVMYP for the first time, or may have forgotten what it is, so here is a little information about what this is all about. RVMYP is a group that consists of anyone involved in youth ministry in the Raritan Valley District. Whether you are a pastor, youth pastor, youth leader, adult volunteer, or have any involvement at all with the youth ministry in your church, you are welcome to come to these meetings. In addition to adults involved in youth ministry, we also invite and encourage high school youth group member(s) to come to the meetings as well because their insight and feedback is invaluable. During each meeting we discuss youth events we are planning to have on the district level, network with other youth leaders and youth groups, and share ideas about youth ministry. Hi everyone! Reminder: the Raritan Valley District youth lock in will be next weekend! Fri April 7 (7pm)- Sat April 8 (9am) at First UMC in Somerville. The night will include games, a time of devotions, pizza, and a trip to a real fun arcade called YESTERcades in Somerville! It will be a fun time! $20 per youth and $15 per advisor. DATE: Friday, April 7 – Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 7:30 pm to 9:00 am
Arrive between 7:00-7:30pm to set up ~ our program begins at 7:30 pm.

WHAT: DISTRICT Lock-in, held at First UMC of Somerville, 48 West High Street, Somerville 08876
In the past, we had over 100 people attend, so this is available on a first come–first served basis.

ACTIVITIES: GAMES, DEVOTIONS, Lock-in, Pizza, Snacks, along with a late night TRIP to YESTERcades Somerville (10:00–11:30 pm). YESTERcades is a gaming experience straight out of the Golden Age of Gaming! A classic gaming experience in a fun atmosphere!
