"You got hammered at the bar on Saturday but came to church on Sunday….You can sit with me. You’re right where you need to be.

You’re a drug addict but came to church on Sunday….You can sit with me. You’re right where you need to be.

You’re divorced, and the last church you attended condemned you for it….
You can sit with me. You’re right where you need to be.

You’ve had an abortion and it’s slowly eating away at your heart, but you came to church on Sunday….You can sit with me. You’re right where you need to be.

You’ve been unfaithful to your spouse but came to church on Sunday….You can sit with me. You’re right where you need to be.

Here’s the thing, people don’t come to church on Sunday for you to sit in the pew and quietly judge them because you feel that you’re somehow better than them.

People come to church because in their deepest, darkest, most painful moments, they heard about a man named Jesus who could save their soul and they’d like to know Him."

Mark 2:17
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Jesus,
There are so many tasks to accomplish in this life, and I admit that I sometimes get distracted. Please forgive me for putting my to-do list and worries above time with you. Help my heart stay turned toward You as I take the time to sit at your feet, listen, and choose You over and over again. Thank You for Your grace, Your mercy, and Your willingness to let me choose again.
Amen.

At the start of each day, help us to recognize you above all else. Enlighten the eyes of our hearts so that we might see you and notice how you're at work through our lives.
Give us the wisdom to make the best choices, and fill us with a desire to seek after you more than anything else in this world.
Let your Spirit and power breathe in us, through us, fresh and new.
Thank you for being greater than anything we may face in our day. Thank you that your presence goes with us and that your joy is never dependent on our circumstances, but it is our true and lasting strength, no matter what we're up against. We ask that your peace lead us that it would guard our hearts and minds in you.
We ask for your grace to cover our lives this day. We love you, Lord...we need you. In Jesus' Name, Amen

As believers we owe our veterans a deep debt. It is because of their sacrifice we are free to worship God. You and I go to church, worship, have Bibles, and serve God without fear of being put into prison or put to death. It is in large part due to their sacrifice we have these freedoms.

So thank a veteran today and pray for them because they are one of the biggest reasons we are free to worship as we please.

O God, we give you praise for these people who have allowed us to serve and worship You in freedom. We do not take for granted that there are millions of Christians around the world afraid of prison or even death because of what they believe. Our veterans are a significant reason why we do not fear and we thank You for them. Amen.

The great spiritual leaders in history were people of hope. Abraham, Moses, Ruth, Mary, Jesus, Rumi, Gandhi, and Dorothy Day all lived with a promise in their hearts that guided them toward the future without the need to know exactly what it would look like. Let's live with hope!

"God has a plan . . ." sometimes these words sting no matter how lovingly and gently they are spoken.

When we experience trials and hardships, the last thing we want to hear is some Christian cliche. But friends, we can trust in God's plan not because our circumstances are good, but because He is good. We may never know His purpose on this side of Heaven, but we can trust that His big-picture view reveals a purpose we cannot see.

"For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord."
Jeremiah 29:11"
