Moses Part 3

Someone once asked me if Moses being denied the promised land meant he also didn’t make it in to heaven. I don’t suppose we would know that answer if Jesus never showed up on the scene.

In Matthew 17:3- Moses and Elijah show in the middle of Jesus’ transfiguration. Scripture says “His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light”

God still chose to have Moses with him in this moment- despite his expression of Pride.

There was a greater purpose for Moses, a greater blessing, a deeper fulfillment and need. Moses was to represent something greater than the crossing of the Jordan.

Moses represented Old Testament law and ability to fulfill it only to be found through the transfiguration of Jesus Christ!! His purpose was greater than his denied blessing, and so is yours!!!!!

Stop looking at the world (even the Christian world) as the measuring stick for your success. Stop looking for your purpose as what am I supposed to do for Christ- instead look at the transfiguration of yourself through your relationship with him as this is our greatest purpose!!

Our greatest purpose is not performance, it’s transfiguration!!

I’ve really got a lot from asking the questions why? From being honest with God about how I felt about a portion of scripture and then allowing his Holy Spirit to help me understand the word! I’m sure some pastor somewhere has preached this message. But I love when things feel brand new to me and understanding comes through journaling and not someone else.

I hope it makes sense!!

Moses Denied the Promised Land — Part 2

During Moses’ recap to the younger generation in Deuteronomy, he speaks about being denied entry into Canaan. God tells him he will not enter the Promised Land, but instead gives him this instruction:

“But command Joshua, and encourage him and strengthen him; for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which you will see.” — Deuteronomy 3:28

Often, what we begin in obedience here on earth is not for us to experience the fruit of. Sometimes the reward lies in the people God has called us to train and disciple.

Moses never wavered in obedience, despite knowing Joshua would receive the reward of crossing the Jordan. In fact, the very next verses in Deuteronomy deeply emphasize the importance of obedience to God.

Are you obedient enough to train someone else to receive the reward you thought was going to be yours?

Okay, so let’s talk about Moses!!

I’ve always felt like Moses not getting into Canaan was a bit extreme. Like bro — he had been faithful in his leadership and listened to countless complaints from the Israelites for YEARS. I felt like he was justified in smacking that rock and feeling like he was doing everything!!

Then I heard God say, “You feel he’s justified because you too are prideful.” OUCH!!!

That’s the thing with driven, high-performing people; at any given moment, we can forget exactly why we have drive in the first place. Moses being denied the Promised Land wasn’t just discipline for him, but a vivid example of where pride can take us.

When you begin to feel like you’re doing it all, remember why there is breath in your lungs. There is absolutely nothing within your own will that makes your accomplishments possible.

How many blessings have we been denied because our pride runs the show?

Father, keep me humble and focused on Your power, not just every day, but every hour, minute, and second, giving You the glory that only You deserve. In Your heavenly name I pray, amen!!

“The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.” — Job 33:4

Desire for God’s Word

In a moment where Martha was busy preparing and serving, Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus. And Jesus affirmed her decision. He called it “the one thing needed.” What does that say about the value of God’s Word in our daily lives? We often fill our time with good things—work, service, activity—but miss the most important thing: simply being with Jesus and hearing His Word. A hunger for God’s Word isn’t automatic; it’s cultivated. It grows as we recognize our daily need for His truth, His wisdom, and His voice. Just as our physical bodies need nourishment, so do our souls. And the nourishment that comes from Scripture is what strengthens, transforms, and sustains us. If your appetite for the Bible has faded, don’t feel discouraged—ask the Holy Spirit to renew it in you. Start small, show up consistently, and let the Word take root.

Applications:

Choose one short passage (e.g., a Psalm or Gospel paragraph) and read it slowly three times today, asking God to speak through it.

Set a regular time this week—even 10 minutes daily—to read your Bible without distraction.

Living with Heaven’s Awareness

In a world that constantly demands our attention, Jesus calls us to lift our gaze above the temporary and focus on the eternal. Paul’s words to the Colossians remind us to set our minds on things above. This doesn’t mean we ignore daily responsibilities but that we carry an awareness of heaven’s perspective into every task, conversation, and decision. Are your thoughts dominated by stress, fear, or comparison? Or are they shaped by God’s truth and promises? Living with heaven’s awareness means we stop letting the urgent crowd out the important. We pause and ask: “What matters most to God in this moment?” It changes how we react to frustration, how we love those around us, and how we make decisions. Today, slow down and recalibrate your thoughts. Instead of being dragged down by the world’s worries, fix your eyes on Jesus.

Applications:

Write down three areas where earthly distractions are consuming your thoughts and ask God to help refocus you on His truth.

Set a reminder on your phone to pause three times today and refocus on God’s presence.

~These applications are huge~ Do these!!
