Happy Father’s Day in heaven to my dad, James B. Dunbar. He was a tough hard man shaped by his generation. He raised, housed, & fed seven kids. We always had a roof over our head, clothes on our backs, & we never ever missed a meal. He labored along with our mother to make sure we had a better life than they had. He was a disciplinarian who spared not the rod but never left a mark or bruise. He was king of his castle & his word was law. Much of who he was in authority I despised but at 70 years of age I have come to appreciate who he was. Work hard, be honest, do the right thing, help others, go the extra mile were things he demonstrated through his actions. He taught us to read people, he was the best at this, so we would be wise in our actions. He didn’t say he loved us until he was in the last season of his life. But I realize now that his love was shown more in action than in word. He served his country in WW2 & served his community 12 years as an elected public official. Who he was marked my life more than I knew at the time. He left us almost 27 years ago. I miss taking him to go to places he had went in his younger days. He had a story about every person at every mile. He was a good dad on his worst day. I, along with my siblings, honor his memory on this Fathers Day 2026.

Whether He's calling you to serve, surrender, forgive, step into a new season, or simply come back to church, don't wait until you have every answer. Take the first step and trust Him with the rest.

Maybe today God is calling you back home. Back to His presence. Back to His people. Back to the purpose He has for your life.

It’s always good to be with KYCOG family, but the way Gods spirit showed up today was beautiful!
