Hopefully our message has been clear - MOUNTAIN SNOW IS RETURNING THIS WEEKEND. A series of winter storm systems is set to take aim on northern AZ beginning late Saturday night and lasting through much of next week.

The first wave of rain and mountain arrives late Saturday night, lasting through Sunday afternoon. We're pretty confident you'll see major impacts to travel on Sunday, with potential holiday traffic compounding things. Now is the time to plan ahead and make sure you're prepared.

Plenty more snow is in the forecast for Monday/Tuesday and perhaps again on Thursday. Bottom line is to expect winter travel conditions Sunday through next week across the high country.

Check the forecast for your location and know what to expect ---> https://www.weather.gov/fgz/ (type your city, zip code into the search box at the top left).

You can watch, scream, wish it away, but in reality, you have no power over the outcome. You are stuck behind a truck, no way forward, no way back. You scored a front row seat for this scene and now, another truck, sliding toward you, they are not going to be able to stop and you can't move. This is the inevitable outcome, a culmination of decisions led you to this point. Some were made by you and some were made by others, but you are going to be hit, in way less than a minute. The thoughts are rampant in your mind now, I should have stayed home, I should have left earlier, I wish I had a 4x4, I should have bought those new tires, did I even have to travel at all? Well, when snow is in the forecast, these are things you should think about, ahead of time. Don't travel if you don't have to, the snow will wait, see it when it's safe.

This La Niña is acting more like an El Niño than a typical La Niña! The moist pattern will continue, with a brief hit of rain/snow late this evening and overnight, and a larger system (or two) hitting late this weekend into early next week.

Be careful if you're out driving, especially this evening and overnight. As the weakening front moves across N. Arizona there will be a couple hours of difficult driving and limited visibility with a quick couple inches of snow in the high country - your commute will definitely take longer than anticipated if you're out tonight.
