With the storm this week and the snow we have decided to have tomorrow's Chapel Sunday Service on Zoom. Nobody has been to check the Chapel to see if the ski area has plowed the parking lot or if anyone has been over to shovel.

The 9am zoom meeting is 994 3928 0123

Sally will open the Chapel at 4:30 this afternoon. She and other volunteers will be there if anyone in the community needs someone to talk to. They will be in the loft so head up there if you want someone to talk to. If anyone just wants a peaceful place for quiet reflection that is also available. Just take a seat and stay as short or long as you need. This is not a formal service. We all just want to support the people who need somewhere to get away to a peaceful spot or for someone to listen or give you some help at this difficult time.

The Chapel is at the base of Summit West behind the old Forest Service building and guest services across the street from Laconia and Evo. Sally will close the Chapel at 6:30 so people can head over to the Pancake House to remember JJ.

Everyone is invited to attend our Christmas Open House at St. Bernard Chapel from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday December 7. If we get a crowd late we will keep the Chapel open so don't hesitate to show up if the lights are on. We heard about the community events taking place and decided we want to open our doors and welcome everyone to celebrate the Christmas spirit, have some hot chili and soup, wander around and see all of our carvings and art created by local artists Adi Hienzsch (1924-2016) and Barb and Ed Quirie who have their mountain studio in their home at Hyak and have been long time members of our Chapel family.
Our Chapel has been welcoming the Snoqualmie Pass community, skiers, hikers and travelers since it opened in 1959. Our group of Chapel stewards got involved in 1998 when the Chapel needed help. The old guard had aged out without anyone to continue the Chapel's mission of being a place of worship for all denominations. The ski area was proposing turning it into an arcade. The community stepped up lead by Patti Murphy. Patti worked hard with the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia, who owns the building, the US Forest Service, who owns the land, Our Lady of Sorrows in the town of Snoqualmie who was a partner church and a core group of community members, to save the Chapel and get services going again. We just celebrated our 26th anniversary and are working to find new community members to get involved to keep the Chapel going well into the future.

We would like to invite everyone to our two services this Sunday, March 10. The morning service is at 8:30am with Sally. She always has such great stories to tell and we learn things about ourselves and our faith. Sally also leads the Womens Bible Study.

The second service is being put on by one of our partner churches in the Chapel, Bethany Community Church. Pastor John Wayne Seitzler will be hosting Mountain Church. It starts at 5pm with a hosted cookout on the porch with services following. This is an extension of their popular Wilderness Ministry. Bring your friends and family. Everyone is welcome. It is always an uplifting and fun service.

Whether you are new to Seattle, Bethany, or the outdoors—you're invited to grow in relationship with Christ and others through the context of God's creation.

Well, we all survived the storm and power outages this week. The Arctic cold has set in for the weekend. I use the WSDOT snow totals. Since Sunday we have had 45.5 inches of snow.

This brings us to a realization that we need help. That is too much snow with too low a temp for Paul to do. He is one of the oldest guys on the Pass. We want to keep him alive. We are putting the call out for anyone who wants to help out with digging out the path to the back door of the Chapel.

We would also like to invite everyone to our two services this Sunday, Jan 14. The morning service is at 8:30am with Sally. She always has such great stories to tell and we learn things about ourselves and our faith. (Just read my texts and it looks like if Tim can make it Sun he will do the morning service. Sally is ready if Tim can't make it. Either way we look forward to seeing you.) Sally also leads the Womens Bible Study. The new session starts in Feb. This one is a little different. The study and workbook is Forgiving What You Can't Forget by Lysa TerKeurst.

Their schedule is to put on a cookout/service on Jan 14, Feb 18 and Mar 2. Everyone is welcome. It will be a fun time.

Whether you are new to Seattle, Bethany, or the outdoors—you're invited to grow in relationship with Christ and others through the context of God's creation.
