OAKLANDS MANSION/MUSEUM TOUR AND LUNCH

Our Senior Adult Ministry will be taking the famous tour of the Oakland’s Mansion and Museum in Murfreesboro, TN, following a great lunch at the county favorite Farmer’s Family Restaurant, in Murfreesboro.
The Oaklands Mansion and Plantation was caught in the middle of the Civil War and officers from both the Confederate and Union armies stayed in the mansion. The most notable visitor
to the home was Confederate President, Jefferson Davis, who stayed at Oaklands in December of 1862. The city of Murfreesboro acquired the mansion after much neglect and vandalism. The home was opened to the public in the 1960s, and 1000’s annually visit this historic landmark.
Your cost for the buffet lunch and the tour will be $12, payable at sign-up. Unfortunately, there is a limit of 25 for this event, so the first 25 sign-ups with payment will receive lunch
and the 45 minute tour.

AUGUST 11, 2016 – Thursday TIME: 11:00-1:00 p.m.
SMYRNA TOWNE CENTER LUNCH AND CONCERT
Our Senior Adult Ministry will be going to the Smyrna Towne Center for lunch and entertainment. It has been a couple of years since we went to the Towne Center, so this should be a great event since it is so close.
We will enjoy the usual great food at the Center, which is a buffet style meal. Following our meal, we will be enterained by the superb vocals and guitar plalying of Moncrief Williams. Moncrief has been the special music a couple of times at The Classic Service, and everybody simply raves about his ability to communicate through song. Many songs he sings are his own creation, and that makes for an enjoyable concert, Your cost will be $8.00, and will be payable upon sign-up.

EMERGENCY HEALTH CARE SEMINAR
As we age, one of the main issues of concern is health. Because of that, our senior adults will be fed a healthy lunch and receive
a presentation in the form of a Health Seminar. We will hear from
persons who have already experienced certain health issues
so we can know what to expect, and what such a health journey might look like. We will hear about issues such as MS, cancer, pacemakers/defibrillaters, C-diff, diabetes, the importance of a care-giver, exercise, dehydration, heart attack and stroke. Some very important issues will be discussed with a question and anwer period at the conclusion of the presentation. Your cost for lunch will only be five dollars, payable at sign-up.

On Thursday we hosted about 50 of our lovely 60+ senior adult ladies for a luncheon, served by 6 of our senior adult men. It was a great event, as the six men served the meals, drinks, desserts, and made sure every need was given attention. We love our ladies at LifePoint, and are so thankful for how they support the overall ministry, and are a constant example of Christ's love. Thanks to 2 of our lady members of the Senior Adult Action Team, Sandy Shultz and Linda Denyes for help in preparation, and the six serving men: James Frazier, Bobby Meeker, John Green, Jim Webb, Jim Ferrerll and Lenny Farmer. The ladies were entertained by the astounding vocal talents of Keith Sargent, who simply sang his way into their hearts. The ladies were also challenged to become mentors to the younger ladies of LifePoint, who use their wisdom in their journey through life. It was a great day at LifePoint.
