It is with sadness but full of the hope for the blessed assurance of salvation I wanted you to be aware of the passing from this life of Elva (Upchurch) Cook Thomas. In the late hours of Friday, June 20, 2025. While at home with husband Ray Thomas, she was relieved of her service in this life to eternal rest in the Church Triumphant. Godspeed Dear Elva you were a precious and faithful servant of Christ's Church. May your family and friends feel the presence of the Comforter and God grant you rest, peace, and reveal to you all he treasures of heaven. In Jesus' name we pray. ✝️🛐🕊️🫂♥️

One of the major decisions of the May 2024 General Conference of the UMC was "regionalization". Most of the world was already structured into geographic regions due to the size of several continents. A new region was created by 2/3rd vote so the United States is now its own region. The attached informational flyer describes the purpose of regionalization. This year, all Annual Conferences will begin the process of how regional governance will work and also vote on UMC (world-wide) constitutional amendments to reflect the purpose and limits of regional authority.
