We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Smithville VFW for their donation to Samella’s Angels Unaware Ministry.

Today we celebrate the simple goodness of milk, a staple that helps provide important nutrients for growing children.

At Samella’s Angels Unaware Ministry, we know that many children face food insecurity and may not always have access to nutritious foods and beverages. That’s why we work each week to provide weekend Zip Packs filled with kid-friendly foods to help students and families in our community.

As we recognize National Milk Day, we’re reminded that every child deserves access to healthy meals and the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

🍔 Today is National Burger Day! 🍔

While many of us are enjoying our favorite burgers today, it’s also a reminder that not every child has access to a warm meal. At Angels Unaware Ministry, we continue working to make sure students in our community have food to get them through.

Did you know?

In many small towns and rural communities across the United States, child hunger is a major issue — often more severe than people realize.

According to Feeding America:

* Nearly 1 in 5 children nationwide experiences food insecurity.
* In some rural counties, up to 50% of children may not have reliable access to enough food.
* More than 80% of counties with the highest child hunger rates are rural communities or small towns.
* In 2023, about 14 million children in the U.S. lived in food-insecure households.

Small towns often face additional challenges like:

* Limited grocery stores or “food deserts”
* Transportation barriers
* Lower wages and higher poverty rates
* Fewer community resources and food programs

This is why organizations like Feeding America and local nonprofits such as Angels Unaware Ministry are so important in helping children have meals over weekends and school breaks.
