“Holy, holy, holy”: This revelation about Jehovah God stands before us as the overarching testimony of His uniqueness and distinctiveness. He is unlike any other: eternal, uncreated, all glorious. This worship of the Lord in Isaiah 6 separates Creator-God from all else. The Scriptures as well distinguish Him as the only one who makes other things “holy”… priests, sacrifices, places, people, days, etc. Then the command is given, “Be ye holy, for I am holy”… first to national Israel and later to New Testament believers. The question that arises naturally from this Scriptural witness is “What ever happened to holiness?” Why is it that nearly every contemporary “advancement” and “insight” into allegedly Biblical Christianity has led to less and less “distinctiveness”. Rather than “uniquely belonging to God”, we observe more and more worldliness with little to no separation from the world. Could this possibly be right and acceptable to holy God? How can this be reconciled to the holy Scriptures? “Be ye holy” has to mean something, and that something is “as I am holy”… uniquely distinct from all that is fleshy and worldly. How are we doing?

John 17 mentions God’s glory over and over again. It also mentions the word “give” in many different forms. God gave us the ultimate gift in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, giving himself on the cross. This sacrificial giving communicates Gods glory in an amazing way. Take some time and read the chapter and notice all the times you see “give” in its many different forms.

John 13~Christ, the Creator and Redeemer of the world, dressed as a servant, and washed the feet of his disciples. His example serves as a call to the forgiven. The aroma of servanthood must waft up from the redeemed!

Proverbs 13:6 "Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way:" Those who live "upright" and walk in integrity before the Lord have security and strength for the journey. It is a proportionate supply perfectly suited to our situation and constitution. Do not grow weary in well doing, Christian.

Total surrender to Jesus. This is the type of surrender that led Daniel to obey even when it meant facing the lions. It's also the type of surrender that David exercised when he faced Goliath. In fact, total surrender has led countless saints to face death in order to follow Christ. What does total surrender mean for you? What might you have to give up? Are you willing? Total surrender is the only way that we as believers will truly know and reflect His glory!
