Lighthouse Christian Camp, Inc.

Lighthouse Christian Camp, Inc. We are here to know God and make Him known. We have the opportunity to bring children to camp who would otherwise not have the chance to come!

Since 1982 Lighthouse Christian Camp has provided weeks of summer camp to under-resourced, disadvantaged and often needy children. Through the camp, thousands of children, who never otherwise would have the opportunity, have come - free of charge – to experience the beauty of God’s creation in a new and meaningful way. Working through the public school systems as well as going door to door, camp s

taff and volunteers identify children to invite for summer camp. Many of these are the forgotten, the un-churched, un-helped and un-loved! How wonderfully excited they are when they hear that “they” will get to go for a week of summer camp! It’s in these weeks of camp that these children hear, many for the very first time, of the love of Jesus Christ. Through numerous planned activities and chapels, children are taught that there is a creator of all things, including themselves. That through Adam, all men became sinful and are condemned to death. That through Christ there is forgiveness of sin and the gift of eternal life. For many, this simple gospel message is a new and transforming truth that changes their lives forever.

Week 1
Our first week of camp was absolutely incredible, from splashing around in the pool to singing praises at the chapel cross, these girls experienced the love of Jesus in a way they'll never forget! They not only got to hear about God's unconditional love, and we also learned how He designed us with a unique purpose and how we are created in His perfect image. They discovered that they are fearfully and wonderfully made, and that their identity is rooted in Christ. They participated in team-building activities, made new friends, and created unforgettable memories. It was amazing to see them grow in their faith and confidence, and we can't wait to see what the rest of the summer holds!

Thank you, Sing for Joy Widows! The widows prepared a wonderful breakfast for all the staff to enjoy Monday morning. It was a sweet time of fellowship between all of the staff here at Lighthouse, and a well needed time of rest and reflection of the next few months to come.

Upper Helton Baptist Church and Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church both came out this past weekend to serve. Big thank you for helping us clean up camp and prepare for this summer. Both Churches came with such willing hearts and big smiles! Camp looks great because of their hard work and dedication. From cleaning off the roof to painting the fences these groups showed their love for the Lord and the kids we serve here.

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord and not for people, knowing that it is from the Lord that you will receive the reward of inheritance. It is the Lord whom you serve!

As we wrap up Testimony Tuesday this week one of our current interns Shatayah, is sharing her story of Lighthouse Christian Camp and the impact it has had on her life over the years.

After reading her testimony, we invite you to join us in praying over the upcoming camp season as we begin in just two weeks!

Please pray:
• For campers - that their hearts would be open to the Truth, that they would feel loved and safe, and that their lives would be changed through Christ
• For counselors - that they would lead with love, patience, wisdom, and reflect Christ in all they do
• For volunteers and staff - that they would serve with humility, unity, strength, and encouragement throughout the summer

This week's testimony Tuesday we get to hear from Luke Bass a previous summer staff counselor, who brought so much excitement and joy to camp with his energetic personality and love for the Lord!

When was your first experience at Lighthouse?
My first experience with Lighthouse was volunteering at a boys Christmas Party!

What was your role?
My role at camp was a summer counselor.

What was your favorite memory?
My favorite memory from camp was week two of camp when my campers were so engaged and interested in the gospel that they wanted to stay up for hours after lights out asking questions about the Gospel and reading parables together!

How did your experience at Lighthouse impact your life?
It completely course corrected my life and helped me catch a vision for a life of ministry that I have been pursuing since then.

What is one piece of advice you'd give someone interested in serving for a summer?
The best piece of advice I can give to someone on the fence about serving is to do it! I don’t think there is any short-term thing you can do that is not worth sacrificing to gain the experience of doing this type of ministry!
