Family and friends of Smith Valley Baptist Church,
“For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)
“You will keep him perfect in peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3 NKJV)
It has come to the attention of the elders that someone who attended our church services last Sunday (October 4, 2020) has since tested positive for Covid-19. As best as can be known at this time, this person was unknowingly exposed to the virus the previous week at their job. Our steadfast hope is still in the Lord as indicated in the previous two verses cited above. While we do not want to foster a spirit of fear or panic, we do want to act responsibly to keep our church family as safe as possible from any and all illnesses including the Corona virus. To that end, we offer the following suggestions…
If you feel ill, please do not attend in-person services for the protection of others in the congregation until you are feeling well.
If you would like to attend on campus services, we suggest a quick temperature check before you leave home. For the safety of other parishioners, we would ask that you consider refraining from in-person services if you have a temperature of 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
If you choose to attend in-person services, freely take every opportunity you desire including masking and social distancing to protect yourself from exposure to air-borne and surface-borne pathogens. Masks will be made available for you if you desire to wear one.
Also, if you attend in-person services, we ask that you wash your hands frequently while on campus and take advantage of the many hand-sanitizing stations throughout the facilities.
It certainly is not our desire to discourage anyone from worshipping together with us in person during these difficult days, but we desire to keep everyone as safe as possible. During these next couple of weeks, we will once again resume presenting our services live on our page. This has been difficult in the past because of internet speeds available to us on the church property, but we feel that we should make this effort once again for those who need to stay home because of sickness. We appreciate everyone’s efforts accordingly.
The past few months have certainly been a trying time for church goers in our nation, but the church of the living God has already been given the victory over the attacks of the enemy (Romans 😎! What a blessing it has been over the past several months to continue to draw strength and encouragement from one another through the many opportunities afforded to us by the favor of God. We pray that His blessing and His favor will continue to be poured out on Smith Valley Baptist Church. Our God reigns! Always!
