Here at Thompson Road Baptist, we have one overarching desire and that is to become, “People Pointing People to Jesus.”

These five words comprise the mission statement of this church and point to a way of life we call the “3PJ Life,” which is a short way of saying we are “People Pointing People to Jesus.” Our goal is to be a continual work in progress as we seek to follow after the teachings of

Jesus Christ. We seek to stress relationship over religion. That relationship lies first and foremost with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As our relationship grows with Jesus we become better equipped to enrich and deepen our relationships with those around us. If you would like to grow in your relationship with Jesus and your neighbor then please consider joining us as we seek to live out this amazing “3PJ life.”

Here are a few of the ministries we are currently involved in:

Operation Christmas Child – For over 15 years we have served as a drop off location here on the northshore of Lake Ponchartrain. Each year we take a mission trip to Dallas, Tx. to work in the processing center for Operation Christmas Child. Child Evangelism Fellowship’s “Good News Club” – This will be our very first year to sponsor an after school “Good News Club” at one of our local elementary schools. The purpose of the “Good News Club” is to introduce children to the loving kindness of Jesus Christ and His desire for them to come to know Him as their Savior. Courtside Ministries – This is a very unique ministry that we engage in every Thursday morning at the St. Tammany Parish Courthouse in Covington, La. We man a prayer station at the courthouse where we offer to pray for those headed into the court. We partner with Our Daily Bread ministry to give out tracts and devotionals. The International Bible League provides Bibles for us to hand out to anyone who desires a Bible. IntOut Minitries – This is a ministry in Uganda which was begun by David & Grace Ziegler. They serve as missionaries in Uganda and have founded a pastor’s Bible institute called, “Harvestime Bible Institute Namayingo.” There pastors are able to receive a seminary education and be equipped for the ministry. We are privileged to partner with David and Grace to help support their ministry there in Uganda. Boy Scout Troop 321 – We are very proud to sponsor a very active troop here at TRBC. They are actively engaged in the community around them and since 2016 have graduated 7 young men to the rank of Eagle Scout. There are still several boys who will attain that ranking within the near future. Trunk or Treat – each year we host trunk or treat for the surrounding community. This is a wonderful time of outreach and we are proud to provide a safe place for parents to bring their children. VBS – each year during the early summer our whole church turns out for Vacation Bible School. We enjoy so much poring out the love of Christ on the children from our local community. Choir – we have a group of people who enjoy leading in worship each Sunday under the direction of a very gifted and committed leader named Steve Smith. If you enjoy music and worshiping the Lord there is always room for one more.

Sunday Sermon Preview

Hey guys, we are going to look at Mark 16:9-11 this Sunday.

The sermon title will be: “Check Your Focus.” In this passage we see two extremes. Mary had been to the tomb and seen the Lord, she was excited to tell what she had seen and heard. However, the disciples who had been so long with Jesus only saw sorrow and despair.

The disciples' focus kept them from embracing Mary’s good news. Where is our focus today? What consumes our attention? How do we see the world around us? It’s time to check our own focus.

The memory verse will be Mark 16:11b: “ . . .they would not believe.”

Be in prayer,

Br. Randy

Our Story

Who Are We? Thompson Road Baptist Church is not a building or facility it is a local body of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are a group of people who are characterized by one single statement: “We are a work in progress.” This church exists because of the grace of God and it is Him who we seek to glorify. Thompson Road Baptist Church began in August of 2003 as a mission of Calvary Baptist Church. Bro. Charles Starnes; the pastor of Calvary Baptist and the wonderful people of Calvary had a dream of planting a church on the west side of Slidell. Through their efforts and faithful giving, this church was built and we began holding services in our present location on June 19th, 2007. Thompson Road Baptist Church is no longer a mission church. We have grown to become a self-supporting, fully functional Southern Baptist Church. Our mission statement defines all that we are about: “We exist to introduce people to the Lord Jesus Christ and to help them grow to their full potential as Christians.” It is our hope that you will come and join with us as we seek to fulfill our mission statement. We have learned that life is really all about the Lord Jesus Christ and knowing Him as Savior and Lord. We have one other phrase that means a lot to our folks as we look at all that God has done here at Thompson Road, “It’s A God Thing!” May we all embrace such an attitude.
