God loves, forgives, and accepts us as we are. This is why Jesus suffered, died, and rose again. Faith
We are not saved by doing go

od deeds, but only through faith in Christ Jesus. Scriptures
It is not what the church says, but rather it is God’s Word - the Holy Scriptures - which is the full and final revelation of truth.

A message from Pastor Case

As you’ve probably noticed, summer is quickly approaching and it’s getting darker a little later each day. However, as you’ve also noticed, the darkness does eventually come. The Bible talks of the profound spiritual darkness that entered the world through sin. This spiritual darkness blinded us to God’s Word and Ways. In mercy, Jesus, the Light of the World, entered our darkness and through His life, death, and resurrection conquered sin and overcame its darkness. The Holy Spirit brings us into this divine Light. He shines God’s grace into our lives and through His Word and presence continues to light our paths each and every day.
“Holy Spirit, light-revealer, glory, glory be to Thee. Mortals, angels, now and ever praise the Holy Trinity.” (Lutheran Service

A message from Pastor Case about the Holy Spirit

Although our house phone was replaced years ago by our cell phones, we continue to get many, many scam calls, nuisance calls, and even wrong calls. Those aggravating calls keep coming and coming. Sound familiar? In addition to those annoying calls, you and I are summoned by other troublesome calls. These are the siren-like voices of the world that continually call us to become worried, anxious, and even depressed. Sound familiar?
The Holy Spirit delights in bringing to us a different call - the call of the Gospel, the comforting Word of God’s grace. This calling (once and ongoing) is one of the primary tasks of the Holy Spirit. He calls, “Come and listen; I have great news for you. The Savior has triumphed over sin, death, and the devil for you! His gifts are yours - now and forever.”
“Today Your mercy calls us to wash away our sin. However great the trespass, whatever we have been.” (Lutheran Service Book)

“He Remembers…For You”. A message from Pastor Jan Case
My wife and I were recently reminiscing about the nearly 55 years we have been married. That’s a lot to remember, isn’t it? That’s exactly what I said to my wife when she recalled numerous experiences over those years and then pointedly asked, “You do remember all those experiences, don’t you?” I humbly confessed that I did not remember every experience she mentioned, and then I waited for her to lower the proverbial boom on my head. But instead of becoming angry with me for my forgetfulness or thinking less of me because of my inability to recall every detail, she replied, “It’s OK if you don’t remember it all. I was there with you, and I remember enough for both of us.” How understanding and loving.
The Lord directed His people of old to remember every detail of His kindness toward them over the generations. “Remember the wonders I have done,” He pleaded. (1 Chronicles 16) Again, in the book of Exodus, He implored, “Remember My Name and my works - forevermore.” The people failed to follow God’s instructions. Their busyness, the pressures of daily life, their worries, their preoccupations with themselves, and their limited memory capacities were just a few of the realities that contributed to their forgetfulness. What failures they were.
And what about your forgetfulness and mine? We also lack the capacity to remember every wonder the Lord has worked in our lives over the years - or even this past week. To do so is impossible given our own busyness, worries, pressures of daily life…We, too, must acknowledge our forgetfulness, and “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1)
The Lord addresses our forgetfulness, shame, and guilt. But rather than berate us, punish us, or hold such forgetfulness against us, He replies, “It’s OK if you don’t remember it all. I was there with you, and I remember enough for both of us.”
Yes, He was there with you when He performed His wonders in your life, showered you with His blessings, and faithfully provided you with His care and compassion. He was there with you and thoroughly enjoyed being at your side. And, perhaps best of all, He remembers it all for you; knowing your inability to do so, accepting your inability to do so, readily forgiving your inability to do so, and continuing to love you and to make new memories with you this very day. That’s profound care, isn’t it? And rest assured, this is His boundless commitment to you this day.
Bolstered by His perpetual care and His perfect memory, we, with God’s people of all generations, proclaim, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. He remembers us. His love endures forever.” (Psalm 136)

A message from Pastor Case

The trials, tribulations, upheavals, and disruptions that come our way can certainly drain life out of us, can’t they? Whew! After struggling with a day or a week of those encounters, I feel exhausted and sometimes ready to just call it quits. The Lord’s remedy for those life-draining encounters is to bring us the “Life Giver” - the Holy Spirit, so-named in passages such as Romans 8:2 and 2 Corinthians 3:3. We celebrate His life-giving and life-renewing presence in our lives as we speak the Nicene Creed and praise the Holy Spirit, “the Lord and Giver of Life.”
“To You, the Comforter we cry, to You the gift of God most high; True font of life, the fire of love, the soul’s anointing from above.” (Lutheran Worship #156)

Despite the strenuous efforts (including legal efforts!) to guarantee truth in advertising, truth in advertising remains elusive, doesn’t it? Maybe you have been fooled a time or two and know what I mean. Sadly, this isn’t just the case in advertising; deception is all too evident in politics, alluring worldly philosophies, and false religions. Why can’t someone just bring us the truth? Why all the deception?
The Lord satisfies our need for truth by sending us the Holy Spirit, named “The Spirit of Truth.” (John 14) The Holy Spirit testifies to THE Truth, Jesus. Through the Scriptures the Spirit of Truth sets us free from falsehoods and gives us confidence in His wisdom and love.

“At the Right Hand of the Father” a devotion from Pastor Case

As a fancier of cats, the curious story of the schoolgirl who recently studied the paw preferences of her own cats caught my attention right away. Her rather anecdotal research found that most of her cats preferred using their left paws rather than their right paws, although several of her cats appeared to be ambidextrous. More formal research studies confirm that just like humans, cats do exhibit paw preference, often referred to as “handedness.” Male cats tend to be more left-pawed, while female cats are more likely to be right-pawed. A significant portion of cats, around 73%, show a paw preference, with the remaining being ambidextrous or lacking a clear paw preference.
As a southpaw myself I was somewhat gratified to learn that left-handers also have a place in the world of cats. Let’s hear it for those left-handers - feline and human alike!
Handedness is also featured in the Bible, and particularly the elevated status of the right hand. The clearly stated higher regard for the right hand, however, doesn’t pertain to handwriting, bowling, golf, sewing, or baseball. Instead, “the right hand” is symbolic of honor and authority. The psalmist, for example, speaks of the seat “at the right hand of God” as a place of honor beside the King of Kings, the Holy One Himself. (Psalm 110)
Furthermore, Jesus spoke of His own ultimate destination “at the right hand of the Mighty One.” (Mark 14) Paul records this very fulfillment as he speaks of God’s incomparable power in raising Jesus from the dead and sitting Jesus “at His right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all other rule and authority, power and dominion.” (Ephesians 1)
Ascended to the right hand of the Father, a place of ultimate honor and power, Jesus could most certainly employ His power and authority to condemn us. After all, we fail to faithfully abide by His Word or meet His legal standards (perfection!) for acceptance. If we need any reminders of that sad fact, our conscience faithfully attests to our inherent unrighteousness day after day.
However, the Scriptures go on to teach us that the holy authority and power of Jesus is not used against us or to lord it over us in a punishing manner. Instead, the Bible teaches us that Our Lord graciously employs His divine power for His people, the Communion of Saints, and for the temporal and eternal welfare of each of us.
His dominion brings to us true comfort knowing that as our Ascended Lord, now seated on His throne, He serves as our Prophet (bringing us His Holy Word), as our Priest (interceding for us day by day), and as our King (governing all thing for the well-being of His flock).
Today, from the right hand of the Father, He holds us in His protective hands. He promises nothing will ever be able to sn**ch us from His loving embrace. (John 10) Through the power, grace, and glory of His hands we are made His handiwork, recreated in Christ Jesus “to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2)
We proclaim, “Christ Jesus, be our present joy, our future great reward; our only glory, may it be to glory in the Lord!”
