I’m waking up today heartbroken over the foolish, senseless violence that has once again ripped through our city—this time right next door to the ministry at the Mall of Louisiana.

Our hearts are heavy for the families who are now facing unimaginable loss and pain. A 17-year-old young girl has lost her life, and several others have been wounded—all innocent bystanders who were simply going about their day. This should never happen. Violence like this is never acceptable, and it must be confronted with both truth and action.

We are deeply grateful for the first responders and law enforcement officers who acted quickly, courageously stepping in to bring the situation under control and make arrests. Their bravery does not go unnoticed.

But today, as a community, we must do more than grieve—we must turn to God. We must beat down the doors of Heaven on behalf of our city. Now is the time for prayer, for unity, and for a renewed commitment to stand against violence in every form.

I am calling on every person in Baton Rouge and beyond: pray for these families. Pray for healing for those who were injured. Pray for peace over our city. And pray that God would move in the hearts of this next generation, turning them away from destruction and toward purpose.

We will not respond with fear—we will respond with faith.
