Temple Beth Israel

Temple Beth Israel Temple Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish congregation where members may freely explore and express their Judaism in an atmosphere of openness and tolerance.

Our friendly, diverse and multi-generational community is:

Bet Midrash (A Community of Study) - Education is at the center of our congregational life, offering vibrant and thought provoking Jewish learning for adults, children and families. Bet T'fillah (A House of Prayer) - Weekday, Shabbat and Holy Day services engage our members of all ages and provide worship experiences to meet the diverse n

eeds of our community. Bet K'nesset (A Place of Gathering) - We are a community of friends, coming together to celebrate life's joys, cope with life's challenges and work to improve the world. At Temple Beth Israel the vitality of our present and the promise of our future grow from the roots of our history and tradition. We believe that Jewish life finds its best expression when lived within a community, and so we support each other and strive to create personal connections within our membership, with Israel and with the greater household of the Jewish people.

For 30 years, Kol Zimrah has brought the Chicago Jewish community together through music, tradition, and incredible talent — and this upcoming concert is a beautiful celebration of that legacy. 🎶

From beloved cantors (like our very own Cantor Richard Cohn and musicians to generations of community connection, this is more than a performance — it’s a reminder of how powerful Jewish music can be in bringing people together.

If you’re in the Chicago area, this promises to be a truly special afternoon.

Yesterday was a beautiful reminder of what community looks like when people come together with compassion and purpose. ❤️

TBI was recognized by the Niles Township Government for their donation of $10,200 to the Niles Township Food Pantry Foundation to help support local families facing food insecurity.

This contribution included:
• $7,200 from the Morris Family Fund — providing food and security support
• $3,000 from an anonymous donor whose generosity will make a meaningful impact throughout our community

In times where so many families are quietly struggling, organizations like the Niles Township Community Food Pantry continue to show up with dignity, care, and consistency for those who need it most.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this possible and proud to support an organization doing such important work every single day.

Thank you to Township Supervisor Bonnie Kahn Ognisanti and the entire board for their recognition and support.

Community is not just about where we live — it’s about how we show up for one another. 💙

This summer, we’re bringing our community outdoors for evenings filled with connection, reflection, laughter, and joy.

Join Temple Beth Israel for Summer Shabbat in the Parks — where community feels a little closer, summer nights feel a little sweeter, and everyone has a place at the table. 💙

Bring a blanket. Bring dinner. Bring the people you love.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you.

Community matters most when everyone feels seen, welcomed, and connected. ❤️

This June, TBI is proud to come together through celebration, reflection, learning, and pride — from Juneteenth events to Civil Rights conversations to Skokie Pride.

We believe strong communities are built through compassion, inclusion, and showing up for one another.

We hope to see you there. 🌈✨

Rabbi Sherin will begin serving as Assistant Rabbi at Temple Beth Elohim in Wellesley, MA this July. She is also the granddaughter of our member, Rabbi Hillel Gamoran.

The entire Temple Beth Israel community is so proud of her!
