Dear Hillside Cemetery Association Member,
Sending best wishes and thanks from our cemetery Board of Directors to all who support our organization and the cemetery. As we near Memorial Day weekend, we look forward to seeing you at the cemetery as we celebrate our loved ones and remember them during this special time of year.
During the past year (May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025), there have been nine burials at Hillside. Lots are still available to purchase for anyone who wishes to choose this peaceful and historic setting as a final resting place.
Your donations are essential for our cemetery maintenance and upkeep! The cemetery was mowed fourteen times this past year, and maintenance was completed for tree trimming and leveling headstones. The cost for mowing and trimming is $700 per mowing. We appreciate your donations which assist in our continued care of the cemetery.
If you would like to contribute when you decorate your family graves at Hillside, board members will be at the cemetery during Memorial Day weekend to answer questions and/or accept your donation.
The volunteers on the Hillside Cemetery Association Board meet at the cemetery every Memorial Day at 2:00 p.m. to elect officers and hold our annual business meeting. We encourage you to join the meeting. This year we will vote on the retention of board members George Morton and Melvina Prather, and discuss activities at the cemetery. If you cannot make the meeting, please sign and return the enclosed proxy to allow your vote to be counted. We also encourage you to send your tax-deductible donation.
The Veterans Memorial Ceremony featuring the Skiatook American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards will be conducted at the cemetery flag pole around 9:30-10:30 a.m. (time approximate) on Memorial Day.
Decorations may be placed starting May 21st and should be picked up by the morning of June 2nd, as mowing and edging will be done. Flowers and decorations left beyond this date will be picked up.
