A lot of people always mention to us how “strong” our marriage is and how we are so deeply connected to each other! It’s always asked “how do you do it?” Well, our marriage isn’t always roses, sweet, and pretty fields! We apply 3 simple but hard rules to our marriage to fight the enemy’s tactic that wants to destroy any marriage!
Is your marriage needing some spiritual help? Do you need an accountability couple to come along side you? Are you looking for Biblical truths on marriage and family? Ryan and I are passionate to helping other couples put God in the center of their marriage. If you would like to get involved in our small group “Marriage Matters”, this group is for engaged to be married, newly married, married for a long time, any couple who wants to build a stronger more Christ-like marriage! Message us for more info or to sign up!

As we wrap up Pastor Appreciation Month, I wanted to share something that isn’t talked about much in ministry among peers so “Let’s Talk About It”…losing pastor friends!

Ryan Bordner and I have been serving in ministry together for over 15 years now! We have been apart of many ministerial alliances of other pastors and their spouses. One thing we’ve struggled with over the years is losing sweet dear friends from ministry God has called home.
Some of these sweet friends may have known how much they have impacted Ryan and I but some may not have known because it was too late to tell them. When people pass away unexpectedly, it is hard for us because we believe we will have one more day to talk to them and tell them how much they mean to us.
As I look through memories and it brings be back to these sweet friends and peers, I remember fun precious moments we’ve had together. I never got to meet Jerl Joslin, however, I know he made a big impact in my husband’s ministry before he passed away. However, his wife, Dani Johnson had been such an inspiration to me and so blessed to call her friend.
Ryan Riley passed away from a battle with cancer but the short time we did know him, he taught us so much in reaching the youth.
Brother Elam also passed away unexpectedly right before his time to drive students home from school. He was a pastor but also bus driver for our school district. It was a God moment he called him home when he did safely in his home and not while driving a bus full of young kiddos. Brother Elam loved life, loved ministry, and loved youth of all ages! He wasn’t ever afraid to have blue lips, do something crazy, or where pink for school games! Sweet Diane Zeller also passed away unexpectedly after working hard the day before at our food pantry ministry. She and her husband Earl was the sweetest most heart warming and welcoming people into their home. If I was struggling with anything related to being a pastor wife or working in ministry, I could go to her and she was there with an ear, a shoulder, a hug, a prayer, words of wisdom, whatever it was you needed.
All of these sweet friends and pastors or spouses have left the world all too soon but into their eternal life with our Savior.
I wish I had one more day with each of them to tell them how they impacted us.
So, for Pastor Appreciation month, PLEASE take a quick moment and message your pastor, your pastor’s spouse, your colleague if you are in ministry and make sure you tell them how much they have inspired you or meant the world to you! I have so many pastor wives in my circle of friends I am blessed everyday for. My sweet friend Carrie Reece is always a message away and the light of any day. My dear friend Brenda Ray I can message if I’m having a struggling day and she always has a word of encouragement, wisdom, or I know she is praying for me. She also can relate to me as a momma raising a special needs kiddo that is now an adult. My dear friend Jeni Cloud inspires me to keep pressing on during difficult days of ministry because our youth kids need Jesus! My friend Dawn Roberts just became a new momma again but always reaches out and offers encouragement. My dear friend Erica Sutton and I knew each other as kids before we married pastors and have both supp sites each other through life of ministry and pastor’s wives. My sweet friend Monica Stephenson also struggles with a physical medical condition and is my inspiration and encourager on days pain is so bad you don’t want to do anything, but get up and keep moving because God has given us another day to reach others to Him! And dear sweet Linda Lewis who has told me since I was young I would be a youth pastor. Once Ryan and I were in ministry she and Mr Lewis was always encouraging, supportive, and inspiring to Ryan and I. Oh my goodness, there are so many In probably missing but just know I’m blessed with so many friendships in ministry. Now, who are you going to reach out and message that have inspired you?! Just a message of encouragement is the best gift for any pastor or their spouse!
Happy Pastor Appreciation Month!

I had to screen shot this post for it was on my pastor wife group page, but it made me think of all my momma friends out there going through a new transition whether it be moving out, our seniors facing their last year of highschool, maybe our Kindergartners first year of school, our kids with their first jobs, whatever it is our kids our doing, we have to start by trusting God through the process of parenting if we want to see our kids do BIG things for Jesus as they grow up.

Parenting adult children is hard! We did this senior year thing 2 years ago with our Ave Bordner who is not a sophmore in college. Our youngest is now the senior and we are doing it all over again. I thought I would be ready and prepared this time because we’ve been on this journey, but just an FYI for any other moms out there who haven’t had their last kiddo hit Senior yet yet, it’s a whole different and new experience of emotions and excitement. Hannah did have a great first day of senior year and loves the classes she has this year. Ave will be home from Nebraska for less than a week on Monday and then will be leaving Saturday morning for college. This season of parenting is hard and rewarding at the same time. You get to see your children spread their wings and soar and watch them grow into young adults. Don’t worry though, they still need you for love, support, encouragement, and the things they have forgotten over time. Whether your kiddo started their first day as a Kindergartner or the last first day as a senior or maybe even their first day of college, my heart and prayers go out to you all. May you be richly blessed and have a great season of school in whatever season of life you are in. If you’re a momma who needs a listening ear or encouragement, reach out! We are all in this joy of parenting together! ❤️

Little reminders from God when your struggle with mental health…
Today, as I sat in my husband’s office while he was at men’s breakfast, I noticed his treasures in his office. A couple of the treasures he has in his office are crafts I made for him when I was inpatient in the hospital for a su***de attempt in my late 20’s. I first thought to myself, “these are broken, faded, and from a long time ago when I was in my darkest days. I wonder why he still keeps them?” As I continued looking I saw more of his treasures/gifts he has received over his years in ministry and how beautiful and non-flawed they are compared to the broken ones. However, he still has the broken and faded ones on his desk close to him when he is working. It reminded me of how Jesus treasures us even in our darkest moments. Regardless, if we are unflawed or if we are broken, we are all still treasures of Jesus who he holds close to him because he still cherishes us and loves us. In our brokenness, in our pain, in our suffering, Jesus still loves us and uses us to build His Kingdom because we are worth more than our human brains can ever grasp. If you are broken, struggling, or fading into depression, remember, God takes all things broken and makes them beautiful! If you’re battling mental health and need someone to talk to, message me. I’m redeemed by the One who chose me to be His daughter. I am alive today because God has a purpose for my pain and I want to live everyday to be a testimony of His redemption story.

Stand firm. Be on guard. Be alert. All of these common sayings in Scripture come as warnings to, as we will find in Galatians 4:21-31, those who are children according to the promise. As we all well know, this world will chew us up and spit us out. In the Tobymac song “I Just Need You” there are...

To declare someone an heir means that they are destined to inherit something. Whether it be property, a public office of some sorts, money, or position, it means that one has been duly chosen to inherit this ‘something’. As we have seen throughout monarchies, it’s naturally the firstborn who a...
