Shoutout to Brooklyn Roozenboom, Class of 2022, for her work as a peer navigator in the Augie Access program!
As the semester draws to a close and the holidays approach, we want to take a moment to honor one of our departing peer navigators, Brooklyn Roozenboom. Brooklyn has been a tremendous addition to our peer navigator team, and her impact will be felt long after this semester.
After starting this role, Brooklyn loved the work so much that she changed her special education minor into a major—a true testament to the meaningful connections she built through this position. Her favorite part of being a peer navigator has been the relationships formed with students, whether visiting with them before class or during drives to their internships. Those moments of connection have defined her time in the program.
Brooklyn encourages future peer navigators to remember that every student learns differently and may need support in unique ways. Taking the time to understand each student’s strengths, communication style, and what helps them feel confident makes all the difference—and, as Brooklyn puts it, makes this the best job in the world.
She shared her heartfelt gratitude for the students she has worked with over the past three years. She said, "It has been a absolute joy working with you all for the past three years. Seeing you thrive in your classes and in your educational journey has been so rewarding and inspiring! You are all destined for such great things! Thank you for letting me be a small part of your story!"
Looking ahead, Brooklyn will be starting graduate school in January at the University of South Dakota, where she will pursue her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and wish her the very best in this exciting next chapter. 💙
