Saint Norbert

Saint Norbert was born into a wealthy German family and lived a worldly life. In 1115, riding his horse during a storm, he had a literal “off his horse” conversion. He was thrown from his horse, and when he woke up,p he asked: “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Our Lord said, “Turn from evil and do good. Seek peace and pursue it.” Norbert completely reformed his ways, was ordained a priest, and eventually became an archbishop. He was given permission to preach against the heresy, doubting the true presence and clerical reforms. In 1120, he founded the Order of Premontre, following the rule of St. Augustine and emphasizing poverty, prayer, and community life.

(As you sprinkle Holy Water in any room of your house, say this prayer for protection and blessing):
Sign of the Cross praying
In the Name of the Father...
Heavenly Father, I ask for Your blessing upon this home. In the Name of Your Son Jesus, I ask for all those who dwell in this house to be delivered from sin and all evil influences.
Protect us, dear Father, from sickness, accidents, theft and all domestic tragedies.
I place this home under the Lordship of Jesus and consecrate all who dwell here to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
May all who live here receive Your blessing of peace and love. Amen.
By this Holy Water and by Your Precious Blood, wash away all my sins, O Lord. Amen.

Patron Saint of Germany and Brewers

St. Boniface was a Benedictine monk who dedicated his life to building the Catholic Church in Germany in the 700s. Originally from England, he was sent to continental Europe to serve as a missionary in the eighth century. Boniface came to Germany amid many regional wars, a situation he would try to stabilize through his preaching. While he worked to convert the pagans in Germany, many sects vied for Boniface’s loyalty, but he remained loyal to the pope and the Church. In 754, he was martyred by one of the groups he had worked with for years. Every year, there are celebrations for his feast in Germany, the Netherlands, and England.
