Exciting News!
Legacy Trade College has a very exciting announcement to share with you! Please read the following statement from LTC's president, Mr. Michael Smith:
God has continued to bless Legacy Trade College over and over again. From its inception with the first soft-start year and donation of the property and facilities, to the Grand Opening year, and now to second semester of this year—our student body, faculty, and staff have not just grown in number, but are also learning much and changing (hopefully!) to be more like Christ.
As you all know, we have been praying and seeking the Lord’s direction for some time concerning the future growth of Legacy Trade College. We are grateful beyond words to Mr. And Mrs. John Innes for their generous gift of their building and property to LTC. Without them, this college would still just be a dream, not a reality. We appreciate Marysvale Baptist Church graciously allowing us to rent the kitchen and fellowship hall facilities for a very reasonable amount. We’ve always known that this would be a great place to start, but expansion here was uncertain.
In the summer, Legacy asked a structural engineer to come evaluate the current property. The building is in amazing shape for its age, but its location and lot size, coupled with modern regulations and local restrictions and requirements, do not make it ideal for expansion. The infrastructure of the building will not support many more people than we currently have.
As a result of this information, President Mike Smith and the Legacy Board of Directors have begun searching and exploring the options available to us in Marysvale. We have looked at remodeling and finishing our current property, as well as purchasing a motel or other properties.
But at this time, it appears that the doors in Marysvale are closing to us. In doing the preliminary research, we have found there are options available in several different locations, but to really know what is a reasonable goal when looking for a new facility, we need to gauge what is financially possible. One of the steps in this process is putting the current property on the market. As you know, an endeavor such as moving to a new facility encompasses many factors that touch the lives of staff, students, and friends here in Marysvale, and we want to be careful to communicate and plan wisely. Would you continue to pray for all involved in this process and for God to supply just what we need?
To be clear: while we do not want to rule out the possibility of change or the working of God here in Marysvale, Legacy is planning to put our current property on the market. This will help us see what we have to work with.
This decision comes after much prayer, meditation, and seeking for God's will, His leading, and divine guidance for the future of LTC. For now, we are seeking to identify our options, and if God sells the property, that opens up more doors, financially.
Where will we go? We don’t know! The heart of our founder and our administration is to minister in the Rocky Mountain West, so we will initially look in this region. We are praying for a property that is affordable, with several specific needs:
~ A place with room to expand and grow.
~ A location closer to transportation (such as airports).
~ Something with easily accessible jobs for our students.
~ An area with nearby, affordable housing for our staff.
~ And a region that can support LTC with logistics of supply and a market for our trades.
We want to be as transparent and up-front as possible, but the truth is, we don’t have many answers. That’s why we need your prayers and support more than ever. Please help us share this need; perhaps you or someone you know has a solution. And please help us keep this transition before the throne of grace. As God has worked in the past, we know He will continue working in the future. We’re eager to see how He will provide and where He will lead us.
Thank you for supporting Legacy with your prayers.
