******.******Long Post Alert**********
Saints, I want to share something that has been heavy on my heart.
Some time ago, during a time of prayer, I heard these words very clearly:
“It’s going to be a long summer.”
Since then, I have watched events unfold, listened to the conversations around our nation, observed the tension in our communities, and I cannot shake what I heard.
I believe we are entering a season that has the potential for increased violence, increased division, increased racial tension, and increased political hostility.
I am concerned about our young people.
I am concerned about the anger I see.
I am concerned about the lack of self-control, the quickness to react, and the willingness to allow social media to tell people what they should think before they have gathered the facts.
Saints, do not allow emotion to override reason.
Do not allow emotion to override discernment.
Do not let Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or political commentators become your primary source of truth.
Beware of those who profit from outrage.
Beware of the fire starters.
Beware of those who continually stir division while offering no solutions.
Watch your children.
Pray with them.
Teach them how to hear the voice of G-d.
Teach them how to avoid situations that put them in danger.
Teach them that wisdom is not weakness and self-control does not mean they are a coward.
Pastors, we do not preach political parties. We preach the Word of G-d.
Do not make melanin your god.
And do not make a lack of melanin your platform.
Our message is Christ. Our answer is Christ.
Our hope is Christ. We teach repentance.
We teach reconciliation. We teach forgiveness.
We teach accountability. We teach truth.
We teach righteousness.
The Church must remain the Church.
even in saying all of this, I am reminded that “warning is not the same as doom.” There is a difference!
Scripture still says:
“If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
The answer has not changed.
Pray. Fast. Seek G-d. Love your neighbor. Walk in wisdom.
Stay anchored to Christ and Him crucified.
This does not have to become a summer of chaos.
But it will require the people of G-d to be the people of G-d.
Pastor Kelvin
