A Special Gift for Christmas.

Merry Christmas Aisha. I just want to take this moment to truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking me into your care and opening your home to me. You are honestly such an amazing foster mom, and I don’t think you get enough credit for everything you do.

You don’t take care of us just because it’s your responsibility or your job, but because you genuinely care about us as people, and that’s something that really shows every single day.I can see how much effort, patience, and love you put into making sure we’re okay, both physically and emotionally. You always go out of your way to make sure we feel safe, supported, and comfortable, even when things aren’t easy. You pay attention to the little things, check in on us, and make sure we know that we matter. That means so much, especially to someone like me.

You’ve created an environment where we can feel at home, not just like we’re staying somewhere temporarily. You make sure we’re happy on a daily basis, and you always try your best to bring positivity, stability, and warmth into our lives. I truly appreciate how understanding and caring you are, and how you never make us feel like a burden.

Thank you for being patient, for listening, and for always trying your best for us. I’m really grateful to have someone like you, and I hope you know how much of a difference you make. I truly appreciate everything you do, today and every day.

A rescource to parents and families

Over the last few weeks, we have received several calls from parents asking advice on the behaviors of the children. Each time our social directors have been able to assist with advice and point them to available resources.

This is important to families who do not know which way to turn. Our social directors are a wealth of information in helping families. They are experienced (personally) in foster care and know how to connect to more outside resources

We are more than a local ministry we are connection people and churches throughout the state.

The Home for Children is MORE than an On-Campus Ministry

Many may not know but the Home for Children actually homes for children located across South Carolina.

We are a network of families helping children in all counties of the state. Yes, we have an on-campus ministry with 3 foster families (working on opening a boy's home now) but we also have off-campus foster families. We currently have three in training and two active. We will soon be adding one family in North Augusta and Beaufort.

This network is important as we work together to get the best care for our children.

From the moment you decide to foster, through every step of parenting a child who has known loss and trauma, there will be sacrifices. But I can truly say it is beyond worth it.

When a child who was once lost, hurting, and in need of love enters your home, you have the privilege to:

Love them as Christ loves.

Pray over their healing and future.

Nurture them from brokenness to thriving.

Whether you keep the child forever or only for a season, knowing you’ve been a place of safety and hope for them is more fulfilling than anything I’ve ever experienced. Fostering is faith in action and putting love into motion.

God has entrusted you with this child because He saw something in you no one else could offer. Embrace this sacred privilege to be His hands and feet. It’s a long road, but the destination, the transformation of a child’s life, is beyond worth the journey.

"I was wanting to give a shout out to a church that most probably don’t even know. Their name is Faith Community Church of God. Recently a girl came into our care that’s had a tough time. The first thing she expressed was being able to see her church family again. She hasn’t seen in over a year.

As an advocate for her I reached out to all parties of the church, DSS, and Home for Children to express that I am willing to get this child to the place she calls home.

She immediately became overwhelmed with joy. And that hasn’t been seen in months upon hearing that she was going to see her church family again. The church family took her in like she was never gone. They loved on her and told her all great things. That they were praying for her.

In the thirty-two years that I was brought up in the Church of God with my dad pastoring, I have never seen something like this. A child that has been given such a hard life. A child that has basically been written off. Yet, she clings on due to a church no one has heard of just because they showed the love of Christ."
