Happy New Year everyone! The SMM Young Adult Group kicked off 2026 with Mass, courtesy of the wonderful Father Ramiro. After Mass, we had a group reflection on the Epiphany in the Brown Road House. Fun Fact, the word Epiphany can be translated in Greek as meaning “Manifestation Upon”, demonstrating God’s manifestation upon all of humanity! We are very grateful and thankful for everyone who came, and we hope to see you next week for a group rosary and fellowship after Mass. Also shoutout to Emmanuel and Joseph for bringing cookies!!

Our young adult group was in for a wonderful surprise yesterday! Instead of our usual Young Adult Mass, we joined Father Max in celebrating the Filipino Mass for the last day of Simbang Gabi. Simbang Gabi is a Filipino-Catholic tradition that lasts 9 days, and consists of early morning masses from December 16 to the 24th. The tradition is centered around the coming of the Lord Jesus. With over 250 people in attendance, Mass last night was the largest Filipino Mass EVER at Saint Mary Magdalene! We are incredibly grateful for all who came, and we hope to see everyone next Tuesday for Mass and fellowship. For now, Merry Christmas and Maligayang Pasko!

May 2025:


Mass will continue every Tuesday throughout the summer. Starting in June, the Young Adult Ministry will be presenting a four part video series introducing Theology of the Body "Crash Course" from Fr. Mike with Ascension Presents during the summer months. We will watch each video and have time for group discussion and questions. Volunteering at the nursing home will also continue once a month.

Dates with activities in addition to Mass on Tuesdays: May 27: Mass and discussion on "Life as Vocation" CCC "Man is by nature and vocation a religious being". Speaker Michele Houmis, teacher at St Joseph's high school and member of Catholic Movement, Communion and Liberation. May 31: Volunteer opportunity: Nursing Home Visit with CL: 10:15 am @ Woodland Place Senior Living June 17: Mass & Part 1: Theology of the Body, video lecture by Fr .Mike Join the GroupMe chat for spontaneous activities (pickleball, group dinner, other events)

Volunteer opportunity:

Habitat for Humanity reached out to St. Mary Magdalene Parish to help with the construction of a wall framing project.

"WALL FRAMING project task, fifteen (15) volunteers are needed each shift (8AM-11:30AM and 12PM-3:30PM) in order to complete the wall framing task."

Young Adult events March 2025:

Mass Tuesday nights @ 7:00pm in the Parent's Room After 7pm Mass during Lent (March 5- April 19) we will be reading through reflections on each station of the cross and participating along with the parish Lenten schedule (see calendar below for details).
- Theology on Tap March 6 "The Significance of Hope and the Jubilee Year" 6:30-8pm @ Christ on Main (14 S Main St, Greenville, SC 29601) *This event is organized by the Diocese of Charleston, all young adults are welcome. The speaker for this event will be Fr. Newman from St. Mary's Catholic Church. Following TOT dates: April 10, May 1
- Save the date: April 22nd YA Sports night at SMMCC! Details TBD, let's get through Lent first :)

Ash Wednesday March 5 (Holy Day of Obligation) Mass times: 7am, 8:30am, 12pm, 4pm, 6pm in the church and PLB, 8pm Spanish Mass in the church or PLB Confession : Saturdays after the 8:30am Mass and 3:30-4:45pm

Stations of the Cross : 5:30pm on Fridays during Lent starting March 7 Lenten dinner on Fridays after Stations of the Cross till 6:30pm ($10/adult)

Hello from the SMMCC Young Adult Leaders, Laura and Theresa, at the Diocese of Charleston Leadership Training at Camp Gravatt! We received lots of great formation and fellowship between other young adult leaders this weekend - and everyone made some new friends! 🐐
