Today's Devotions: Song of Solomon 1-4. Ephesians 6. "Are you Prepared for Battle?" In Ephesians 6 we read of The Armor of GOD. Verse 10-13 says "A final word: Be strong in the LORD and in HIS mighty power. Put on all of GOD'S armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of GOD'S armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm." There will be battles, the goal? To stand firm! To make it to the end. Note: it says people (flesh and blood) are NOT the enemy. So even though People hurt us, we need to remember they are NOT the enemy. The enemy is satan, and the evil spirits of this dark world. Satan is always trying to kill, steal, and destroy. I use to luv a good fight /argument; I liked debating with my father. Now? Nope, I just want Peace. Just as a Soldier prepares for battle, we also need to be prepared. Ask any Soldier and I'm pretty sure he/she will say it takes Daily Discipline. No 😴 sleeping in for sure!!Only after we Retire, right?! I am SO old I can sleep-in and still have time for the Disciplines of being a prepared Warrior. What are the Disciplines needed? Prayer, Reading, Memorizing and Meditating on the WORD. The Bible/Sword is our Offensive Weapon; it's the Truth of Scripture that cuts through the deception of the enemy. JESUS used Scripture to combat the temptation in the Wilderness. (Luke 4) Ephesians 6:14-17 lists the Armor of GOD. 1. Belt of Truth, (John 8:32) its our foundation; it helps us discern right from wrong. 2. Breastplate of Righteousness, (2 Corinthians 5:21)living righteously protects our hearts from the attacks of the enemy. 3. Shoes of Peace, (John 14:27) prepares us to stand firm, and gives us stability in the midst of chaos. 4. Shield of Faith, (Hebrews 11:1)our defense against the fiery darts- doubts, fears and lies of the enemy. 5. Helmet of Salvation,(Titus 2:11) protects our minds, and reminds us of our identity in CHRIST. 6. Sword of the Spirit/The Word of GOD/ Bible.(Hebrews 4:13) Remember, the Armor of GOD Protects and Prepares us for Battle. I like to add something personal in the Devotion, todays is difficult to write on; but it fits SO I will push through my hurt. My Twin Brother JR, joined the Military near the end of the Vietnam War. Thankfully, he was not sent to Vietnam, but was sent to Germany. I say thankfully, but it didn't turn out well. He got a General Discharge, because he became addicted to Herion. Please hear me, I am not making excuses for his choices. Remember he is a Twin, we should have spent our School Years together; but the School System failed us. He had to repeat Kindergarten, they said he wasn't ready. Wasn't prepared for first grade. My Parent's thought the System knew what they were doing, they did not! If only...they had held me back also, if only we had been together. I know it would have been better. Can you imagine telling people "We're Twins", and they respond "Why aren't you in the same grade?" And JR having to respond over and over again "I was put back a grade." It absolutely affected his self esteem. And the icing on it...he was probably ADD, but wasn't diagnosed. It wasn't fair, I didn't get to experience the good things of being a Twin.... I'll end with, don't try to fight the battle/enemy on your own; ask for GOD'S help.
