On Sunday, April 7, Silverton First Baptist Church will celebrate the installation of Jonathan “JD” Winters as the new Lead Pastor. He was affirmed by the congregation to begin his new leadership role following the retirement announcement by Pastor Tom Smith, after his 16 years of ministry at our church at 229 Westfield Street.
Winters came to First Baptist from Faith Baptist Church in Lincoln City where he served several years
as Youth and Family pastor and for a short period as interim Lead Pastor. He recently completed his master’s degree in Applied Biblical Leadership from Western Seminary in Portland. He adds this to his Bachelor of Communication Studies from Eastern Oregon University. An able preacher and teacher, his relaxed and friendly style is reflected in his personal relationships both within the church and in the community.
Winters and his wife, Crystal, have been married 21 years. They have five children, Austin, Jackson, Charles, Samuel, and Molly ranging between the ages of 20 and 11. The family has been community-oriented and enthusiastic supporters of the schools and community events and organizations. Additionally, Crystal is highly regarded for her involvement in women's and worship
ministries which have made her a much appreciated addition to those areas in the church.
During our worship service on Sunday, April 7th, guest Pastor, Brian Robbins, Lead Pastor of Community Church in Susanville, California will preach from 1 Timothy 4:11-16. Pastor Robbins is a friend and mentor to JD and hired him and Crystal when they were at Faith Baptist Church in Lincoln City, Oregon.
There will be an Open House to welcome the Winters family from 2:00-4:00 pm in
the church's fellowship hall. If you are searching for a church or want to stop by and express your warm congratulations to the Winter’s family – all are welcome.
