We met together for three hours with the unified purpose “to seek the heart of the Lord”. It was full of everything good and wonderful. Strength came. Courage came. God came.

If our view of Jesus is distorted or diminished, if it is impotent or anemic-if we think less of Him than He truly is- we will withhold from Him the devotion that rightfully belongs to Him. We will seek a better alternative when we’ve been hurt by the church, or disappointed by one of its leaders, or when we’re grappling with issues of faith amid life’s difficult moments. We’ll think we are our best alternative, that only we can be trusted to look out for our own well being. -Priscilla Shirer

All we need is found in Christ. If this is not a solid belief in your life, the hang up may be that you don’t really know Him or that your idea about who He is and all He desires for you is incorrect.

“Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you” Matthew 6:33

Don’t let another person decide for you who God is or what He stands for. Go read about Him in the Word of God (Bible). Seek Him out for yourself. Don’t lose out on all He has for your life because you have whittled Him down to a Sunday Jesus or an Easter and Christmas Jesus. Or a stained-glassed still hanging on the cross and defeated Jesus. He is fully committed to you and to your well-being. He is full of wisdom and power. He is alive! He has never changed. All you need is found in Christ.

Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh (and died for us), arm yourselves (like warriors) with the same purpose (being willing to suffer for doing what is right and pleasing God), because whoever has suffered in the flesh (being like-minded with Christ) is done with (intentional) sin (having stopped pleasing the world) so that he can no longer spend the rest of his natural life living for human appetites and desires, but (lives) for the WILL and PURPOSE of God.

1 Peter 4:1-2 (AMP)

Believing in Christ and following Christ are two very different things. Ask yourself “whose purpose do I live for on a daily basis”? Am I a people pleaser or do I strive to please the heart of God”? There is always room to grow. Remain teachable.
