The Genesis 11:4 way!

Prior to 2006, I always heard the commentary of the men of Genesis 11 in a negative and anti God commentary.

As I studied and meditated on this, I observed a different narrative that I would like to submit.

Genesis 11:4 states 2 ways the men built the tower. Their civilization and understanding of life was simply amazing.

Verse 4 says they built A CITY and then a TOWER.

KYNDOM SYNC is dedicated to always filtering life, ministry, finances, family, etc through a Kingdom of God perspective. This is a way of thinking about HOW WE DO LIFE.

Here's the idea - HOW YOU DO, WHAT YOU DO DETERMINES THE OUTCOME.

Truth: DOING IS NOT SUFFICIENT.

Accompanying our DOING must always be a conscious and cohesive effort to DO THIGS THE RIGHT WAY!

Genesis 11 the men built :

1. A CITY - what does this mean and imply?

2. A TOWER - what's the understanding here?

CITY = BREADTH

TOWER = HEIGHT AND ELEVATION

Brief thought: Before you build Tower, Build CITY.

Tommorrow I will articulate what is CITY and what is TOWER!

SO MANY TITLES...SO LITTLE LEADERSHIP!

If you shake a mango tree today and stand a watch, you will see Bishops, Apostles, Prophets falling all from the tree. This is obviously my stale attempt at humor, but I think you get the point.

We have reached an epic point in the body of Christ whereby people in ministry today see the need for titles. Let me balance out and say this. I am not anti title at all, but I am against titles for the sake of public notoriety where we seek the approval of and attention of man.

I seriously advocate we recalibrate and hit the RESET button when it comes to how we "function" in leadership today. I believe we need to get back to teaching and modelling what I call "FUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP."

What is functional leadership?

This is leadership based upon the attitude and mind set that does not require a title to serve and get on with it...that is ministry. It is NOT talking and giving orders.
It is being willing to DO and model and example by DOING not talking. Few be they that exemplify this.

How do we teach functional leadership? A few ideas.

1. Explain the essence of what the leadership title is in context of SERVING, DOING and modelling the title.

2. Always stress the importance of function above title.

3. Ensure leaders serve. We have too many sitting back and not doing. Serving job descriptions need to be drafted and leaders required to serve each week within their sphere of leadership.

4. Regularly, meet with leadership to ensure the work is being done.

5. Explain the benefits of the Joy of Serving and doing for others.

Just a few. lets get to work.

Function as a leader and get beyond your title. Why?
Our titles do not impress God.

Have you ever read something and it jumped off the page and gave you pause for deeper thought.

Psalm 11:3 - "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?"

I have seen this verse on a number of occasions and was moved by the wording of the Psalmist, but yesterday it jumped off the page.

There are several ways to look at how we can understand the question posed by the Psalmist.

1. A Remnant Mind Set View. This looks at the world and life apocalyptically and sees the disintegration of morality and sanity over taken by sin and sinfulness and cannot wait to go to Heaven and be with Jesus.

2. A Response Mind Set View. This look at the "situation" whether it is societal or national and responds with the question like David to Eliab concerning goliath, "Is there not a cause?" This response takes on the responsibility to be a "change agent" and contributor to the turn around of any seemingly hopeless or lost situation.

3. A Hopeless Mind Set View. This response is one of being resolute to the concept of "cannot change what is doomed to fail. Leave it alone and live your life and be concerned with where you are and those closest to you.

THE CHANGING OF THE GUARD?
Many eyes are focused on the midterms and since November of 2016, the Nation has been riveted and rocketed in much turmoil, politically speaking. The idea of not wanting a "politician" in the white house, has been very interesting in what people have set a "new normal."

What is also equally amazing is how white Christians have "lowered" the bar for what is accepted as righteousness in government as they seek to deify man and falsely believe that is the answer to America's challenges spiritually comes from a president and a supreme court conservative majority.

If President Obama had in any way, shape or form been associated with and seem to be in "collusion" with a despotic and dictatrorial foreign power in any of his elections, he would have been impeached in a heart beat. The moral compass of conservatives is sitting on a magnetic flux of what I call "personal bias situational ethics that works for me and my kind", which by the way,
destroys the accurate reading of the instruement!!

President Obama mentioned in the same breath of a p**n star....what???? Conservatives would have demanded his head on a platter!! Non disclosure of taxes, maintainance of personal business interest and family high level government appointees - "without any experience and training.....this would have NEVER been allowed and yet for trump and his families this has been the day to day new reel of the highest office in the Nation.

Will November usher in a new ERA within the United States of America? Who knows...except God.

Having stated the obvious with bias and partiality, it is my hope that a new breed of leader arise in all spheres of influence. We desperately need Leadership that defines these 4 characteristics that Dr. A.R. Bernard spoke of.

1. COURAGE - leadership that stands and takes a stand when all are stepping aside to be politically correct and "safe."
2. DECISIVINESS - too many leaders wallow in the safe shadows and furrows and convienence. Decisions are not made and hence low morale and wandering occur as people also begin to meander in life.
3. DISCIPLINED FOCUS - this is all too lacking in leaders and agreed, it is a challenge, but a worthy one at that!
4. FUTURE ROAD MAP - vision and its lack is evident as most seek to maintain status quo rather than chart a "new course" into the future. Many stand on safe shorelines and refuse to engage in discussion of the impending challenges that defines the 21st century.

WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE!

Speaking into the present and unfortunate hour we find ourselves as a Nation, these are plainly evident:

1. Division rules greater than Cohesion. (I will elaborate)
2. Fear rules greater than a sense of Optimism. (Faith is what we call this!)
3. Populism is viewed as a progressive way of thinking.
4. Lack of respect and moral decency wanes
5. GROSS PARTIALITY of what is acceptable and permitted for 'some' and "someone."

All right lets begin.

Conflicting views and opinions on any subject should never be an occasion to view someone else as an enemy. Differing opinions should allow us to be able to maintain decency and debate and through our discourse with one another find a better way forward, as NO-ONE has the corner on the ANSWER! Left or Right!
Cohesion needs to happen even if there is friction! Friction is caused through "I see this differently!" Our pride and conceit becomes the blocker to agreement.
When buffing a floor to get "the shine", it takes friction. Why?
Two opposing surfaces are meeting for one common cause - lets get the floor "looking great" they say to one another!
The "great" we hear of and see on caps and posters, are merely polarized thinking that does not look at others, respect others and has a passionate, myopic, slanted and skew perception of everything and everyone around it.

We have degenerated into an intellectual abyss that lacks the balance and decency required to help, assist and treat ALL with respect and humility.

Two worlds collide politically everyday - left and right!
Conservatives feel they have the edge through "conservative" appointees to the Supreme Court. Christians revel in their percieved victory as this is their mandate that secures the moral landscape be all but ensured. QUESTION?
Who has the mandate from scripture to secure this?
The secular domains of man?

Final thought.

When Jesus said you are SALT and LIGHT, who was He talking to?
Political Parties?
Supreme Court Justices?
Congress?
Senators?
A Congress Woman?
A Congressman?

Your answer to this must heighten your conscience to what biblically true to the hour, not what you feel is right and justifies your personal persective.

THE DESPERATION OF DOMINANCE.

It should be always amaze and be a shock to our human psyche, if we have to employ desperate tactics to ensure we get our way in whatever domain/arena of life.

In the sports world, it becomes such degrading and demeaning image of what "lowlifes" are capable of. Fouling, timewasting and being horribly physical with the intent to harm, are all hallmarks of a team that have lost the plot and have degenerated their nature to being beastly and debased.

This is in full form and display today in our political arena. Leadership and especially "honorable leadership" is non existent on a national scale. WE HAVE REACHED A NEW LOW and the new norm and mantra is "do whatever it takes to succeed." No longer do we observe decency and character as criteria to lead people.

What is most heinous is that people feel they "deserve" the right to be elected and placed in office when their life, actions and character DO NOT qualify them.

Finally, we are learning from this hour of what NOT to be and this is a teaching moment.

The Blindness of Pride

I just watched a movie on Netflix that depicted a very interesting story that led me to think on this......

The basic story of the movie showed Spain as a colonial power in the Philipines in 1897. The Spanish invaded the Philipines and a liberation war broke out to defend the Philipines from its invaders, that being Spain.

A small band of Spanish soldiers and a Captain are sent to a specific island where a previous massacre had see Spanish soldiers slaughtered by the philipino army seeking to liberate its country.

The entire story is built around the Spanish leuteant taking refuge in a church with his band of soldiers and "holding out against the enemy." The Spanish lieutenant refsuses to believe that the war has ended and rejects the newspapers reports that the WAR IS OVER! The Spanish leutenat keeps reffering to the field instructions in a time of war! The "field instructions" were a war manual written in a room and not designed for a "now battle and war crisis!"

The eventual result was soldiers died unnecessarily and a conflict was sustained for no apparent worthy reason, except the blind patriotism of a proud, arrogant and blinded man who leads soldiers to their death in supposed "honor!"

Before we become too harsh of a critic of the Spanish leutenant, lets draw some life lessons.

The Spanish lieutenant keeps referring to the field instructions in a time of war! !

Q. Can we take national honor and passion too far? Can we take honor too far?

YES WE CAN!

When honor and passion lose sight of the following, then we have lost the plot.

a. When it (honor/passion) does not consider the dignity and respect of others.
b. When it becomes a personal tool for power and not a means of ensuring ALL are protected and their well being the preeminent focus of the said honor/passion.
c. When it refuses to listen to reason and fact and continues its deluded moral ascent into the clouds and peaks of personal satisfaction above all.
d. When it refers to the "field manual" (an outdated source of information) rather than the reality of WHAT IS and not what the old outdated policy says.

The Spanish lieutenant backed himself into a corner and became subjective to the trial rather than objective as to what was the best way out FOR ALL, not just himself.

His stance became the glaring myopia that led to misery, death, eventual surrender and defeat, which could have been enacted upon a lot earlier and could have saved lives.

We can draw parallels of this:

Personally

What are holding onto and not letting go of?
Have you locked yourself away in your "self made fort" and are ready to come out fighting?
Are we fighting a war that is already over?
Are we blinded by our own personal pride and have become denying of the truth?

Just some thoughts to a more productive and spiritually healthy life and lifestyle.

DEATH....STILL OUR LAST ENEMY!

Recently people we have known and people that have really helped my family and I (APOSTLE FRED TURNER) have transitioned out of this earth realm.

A number of thoughts flood my mind and heart.

1. Life is INCREDIBLY short! Therefore major in the major and minor in the minor!!

2. Live completely and radically for Jesus Christ. No Half Measures. Don't Play church!!

3. Use every opportunity to ensure you are a great witness of Jesus Christ.

4. If you are not living with an Eternal perspective, change that immediately. Eternal Perspective = God first, Gods Will be done in my life, Live by the dictates of the word of God.

SHIFTING SANDS......NOT.....THE FOUNDATION.

I am both intruiged and amused at the "shifting of goal posts" Christians have in light and context of donald trump. Bible toting, bible carrying and bible quoting and yet in the face of reality, there is an immense double standard. It is not shocking but truly a testament that sands SHIFT BUT NOT THE FOUNDATION.

Foundation is the bedrock truth we all stand upon and truth that is timeless. This truth stands tall and unmoved by the christians and the church. This TRUTH needs not the endorsement of Christians in that Christians need to rubber stamp it.

Who gave anyone the right to change the "goal posts" on what we call righteousness? Who can stand with and support and give credibility to a lifestyle that is dogged with shame and behavior that would not be tolerated by anyone else. HYPOCRISY has reached a summit height as we see many stand with what morally heinous and humanly inhumane.

The sands are shifting.....we are you standing...or more importantly.....what are you standing on????

Final thought: TIME and TRUTH will close this present narrative.
