On behalf of the IBAA board of directors, we lost our great member who devoted his life for Buddha’s teaching and our international organization. May he reach the final goal and Rest In Peace forever.

A Thai poem elegantly written in dedication to the Venerable Ajarn Khumtan Aryuvong’s 11 years of service to Wat Thai Washington, D.C. and the mission of spreading the teachings of our Lord Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, across the United States by Ajarn Ton Peace, a fellow graduate of the revered “Palean Nine” school of Buddhist monks in Thailand, as Ajarn Khumtan prepares to leave on Friday, June 6th, 2021 A.D. to take up a new permanent posting as the Secretary of the Buddhist Council of Elders in Sisaket, Thailand. All of us at IBAA who have had the pleasure of working with him wish him a safe journey home and continued success in his endeavors in the furtherance of the Buddhist faith!

For the first time in US history, the celebration of the birth, enlightenment and passing away of the Buddha (Vesak), was held in the White House today. In honor of Vesak, an official statement from the White House has been announced by our President Biden.

We are pleased the White House has celebrated Vesak for the first time ever with the Second Gentleman, Mr. Douglas Emhoff, lighting a candle in the White House in the presence of three Venerables representing Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions. This is also the first time for all of them to come together under .
